anti cheat unreliable

ok i am still downloading other peoples skin despite having skins download switched off and have changed it in the files, and all was fine until i went onto DM and it says i have a modified crackhor.tris file. I mean wtf???? i hate crackhor skins i have no crackore anything in my quake2 folder. I even reinstalled quake2 clean and it still says i have this file. The funny thing is when i go to different tasty servers it says nothing about this file. wtf is going on and can anti cheat be trusted?

Type "whereis players/crakhor" to see where the file is residing. If you ran the Q2 3.20 full update after reinstalling "clean" then you have the skin. It's possible the server has a different version of the skin that doesn't match your clean one.

but yeah anticheat can be trusted, but you have to keep in mind that nothing is perfect its the best there is and absolutely 100% better than nothing, so dont start jumping on the anti r1ch programs band wagon, those people are just idiots

also, it could just register on dm and not on other other servers because each mod has its separate folder

I replaced airowolf with a different model & no warning ever pops up.    Mabye you went on to a stricter server.

lol i doubt anti cheat is a trojan, actually i like to play against people who i know uses anti cheat. its just that all of a sudden it was detecting this crakhor tris file when it doesn't exist on my computer, and it was only on DM server. when i went to other servers it said nothing about this file

Check all your subdirs for that file, and in paks too.

But did you do that while on the server where you are getting the error?

Also make sure the spelling is the same as the one in the error message.

The crakhor model that comes with the original q2-3.20 full patch is incomplete. The patch has four stock models: crakhor, cyborg, female and male. But I just noticed that for some reason the 3.20 "full" patch does not include the tris.md2 of the crakhor model, which might explain why many people get a "modified tris" warning for that model.
Most if not all of the people who play the game by downloading the demo + 3.20 patch, will most likely not run older patches first, so they don`t have the crakhor tris.md2

To get rid of the anticheat warning make a baseq2/players/crakhor folder and put in the crakhor tris that I`ve attached here. (If you dont care for that model and just want those messages gone then you don`t need all the crakhor weapon models and skins.)

- On a side note I`ve gotten the modified-warning for the Cyborg model after I had removed it. Even when the model itself wasn`t in my quake2 anymore, anticheat still would give the warning. I found that if you want one of the four stock models gone and you don`t want to see any modified-warnings from anticheat then the only thing you can do is leave the folders and the .md2 files of the model intact and only get rid of the skins. The game will then automatically show male/grunt, which is the same effect as when you`ve deleted the entire model.
