Each bracket is getting close to the finals, was curious as to who everyone thinks is going to get 1st and 2nd..and why.

Pro: 1st - dahang..2nd - kris..

I think dahang will beat damiah, then kris will beat damiah in the losers finals, and then dahang will beat kris..

Sport: not really sure, i think the winner of the slacker/abusive game in the losers bracket will be in the finals vs myself or wafflez, althought ghost9 has played really well, hard bracket to choose people.

Novice: 1st - blitz.. 2nd - Digency..

Honestly I really don't know about this bracket either, I played a few games vs blitz and he does well..and I've heard people talking about how Digency shouldn't be in Novice, however when I watched him play vs DyN today, I wasn't that impressed..another tough bracket to choose from.

Anyway, leave your thoughts

i didn't think blitz or digency belonged in novice.. but I'm unsure if they would have gotten anywhere in sport to begin with.

Well I went for sport and I lost 2 games in a row...I was unlucky by getting abus1ve then slacker...but I'm sure there was a couple players in there that I could have beaten. Blitz can beat me sometimes, I'm sure he'd be able to beat some sports player as well. I chose competition while he chose the easy way. Oh well.

Novice consists of shit players like me who are bumbling their way around maps and players like the previously mentioned two who are cake walking through it. 
I guess we need another classification for Uber Novice!

Yeah it sucks that some good players insist on playing novice. It defeats the whole objective of the different classes, and makes being a novice less fun

I proposed the bracket system specifically for the novice players.

Stepping down from one's proper bracket to win is rude.  It is no fun for me or my opponent if I blow them out or they blow me out -- nether learns anything and neither has any fun (unless they are an ass).  In fact we (really Laurelin who runs the show) had to move some players.  Others we simply trusted would know where they place.

That said, nobody expected it to be perfect.  And, we can't expect to shuffle anything now.  What we can expect is that those players who are blowing players away should be humble and polite.

(PS - I think Blitz could play at Sport.  I accept that he didn't know in advance.  I do think Digincy should have known better, his argument is weaker.  But hey, it isn't a big deal.  Both of you can fix that in the next tourney which I hope you both enter.)

Good thing there is a losers bracket, that seems to make up for some of the uneven matching in the winnerbrackets. Too bad the loserbracket makes players a lot less motivated and there are quite a few byes It sorta ruins the good intention of the double elimination system.

As for players not being in the right bracket, I agree, I don't see how for instance Digency can accept a spot in the Canadian National team and at the same time sign up for novice, it should have rung a bell somewhere. That being said I thought he was better than he was, in the game I specced him he didn't look very map knowledgable at all so guess it makes up for some. Blitz knows well he practice 1v1 harder than most in novice, and if he has played ra2 for 2 years he should have thought about sport too, if he knew novice was intended for FFA players from tastysleen servers mostly. Think they might have been misinformed coming into this, the novice was probably mainly intended for people coming right form FFA and just trying out 1v1 for kicks and fun (if the intention was that they should prepare a lot learning all maps etc, I doubt there would be 10 or whatever the amount of maps it is in the bracket, no way it is expected that novice players should learn all those maps by heart, as pro players aren't expected to learn a single map). Sport for those who actually had some motivation aside that (practicing maps and preparing more), and pro for the ones feeling that they were too good for sport or that they enjoyed the challenge of facing top players.


Anyway, for prediction I kinda agree with deft:

dahang or damiah in pro

deft or wafflez in sport

digency or blitz in novice

Who wins can very well be decided by maps in the final. Just hope the pro's get their act together, and that loserbracket games get played as well
