Heh, actually I forgot to mention. The empty grill is filled with a fan pulling air out of the case, just like the noticeable one on the PSU. AKA both are pulling air out of the top of the case.

My Idea is to get two fans running on the bottom of the case (one on the access panel and one on the backside of the case using the available expansion slots.

The air flow would go as such:
  1)Intake below the GFX card from both the back and the side of the case.
  2)Shaped past the GFX card intake fan and then through the gap between the GFX card and the HDD using the cable as a path shaper.
  3)With the two exhaust fans (PSU and one using the vacant grill in the image to vent the remaining air out of the case)
  4)Using vacant drive slots on the front of the tower to pull additional air into the tower to facilitate cooling of the CPU etc.

I think I would pull in filtered air and direct that filtered air into the area under the graphics board and let that fan take it out but that's just me. Your theory is reasonable enough and it will probably work and I would recommend a mesh filter on those slot inlets you intend to use just to minimize the contamination. As it is, you will get some good contamination on the drives and boards using negative pressure like that, but it will work if there is enough airflow.

Another problem with negative pressure is that the contaminated air flows rapidly through the gaps in the case but slows down as the restriction is passed, the slower air can't carry the dust and the dust precipitates inside the case, then the nice warm clean air accelerates toward the fan that is pulling it out of the case.  Be prepared to do some regular cleaning of the computer, perhaps once every 2 months instead of every 4 to 6 months with a positive pressure method.

You want positive pressure in a case or you will suck in dust through all the tiny gaps.

Are you saying I should have fans blowing into the case that are filtered to protect from contaminants and just let the air escape on it's own via the joints/seams/slots rather than create a shaped path for the air to follow?

I would have an inlet fan and duct of some kind and shape your air path to give a good supply to that fan on the GPU, then let the fan of your power supply carry the air out of the case thru the PSU. As long as you have good air exchange the CPU fan controller will be able to regulate that fan speed and you don't need to worry much about that. Check the idling temperature rises, then check the loaded temperature rises to be sure they are under control and you are fine.

Thanks for the info. I usually have to don my thermal gear when I enter the den*ahem, Battleroom. I switched off the breakers for the heat in there and keep the door shut.
