ref_r1gl and ref_gl problems

Hi all, I'm having problems with my opengl renderers. When I use ref_gl (the id default opengl renderer) I have common crashes when I try to take screenshots, and with some mods. I know I cannot work around these difficulties, so I tried ref_r1gl.
Unfortunately, ref_r1gl gives me REALLY bad framerate--on the order of 4-15 FPS. (Normal ref_gl gives me 60-100 FPS now that anticheat is turned off
, and I get 40-60 FPS with anticheat turned on.) I do not have a video card, so does anybody know a way to make ref_r1gl run the same as ref_gl and at the same speed but with all the bug fixes? And no, I do not want to turn off dynamic lighting. It is too important.
Thanks!

You can try this ref_gl.dll version from Alpha-Prime(CW). Maybe it solves your problem. I use this version too but without dynamic lighting.
You can find it at

Thanks for the offer, but that ref_gl has exactly the same problem as ref_r1gl

Add the following commands to your config and check if this solves your fps problem.
set gl_swapinterval "0"
set gl_ext_swapinterval "0"
set gl_ext_pointparameters "0"
set gl_finish "0"

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
