Help Please

Hello, somehow my quake2 is messed up and shows everyone holding a regular shotgun, second of all when im playing online, it says i have alot of modified files. and i was wondering how to fix this without a reinstall. also, how do i set it so i just have the 3 basic skins but can download different textures for them only, like all the different skins for the female and male and cyborg but nothing else

There is no way to ONLY allow downloading of skins for specific player models (male, female, cyborg). You'd have to go HERE and download ALL of the player models and skins. Then you'd have to delete all of the folders containing models and skins other than male, female, and cyborg. Then you'd have to go to your multiplayer > player setup > download options and set the option for "player models/skins" to NO.

Download the Quake II 3.20 patch and unzip it to your q2 directory.

It's not rocket science, dude. Obviously you did something to modify your game files. I don't see why anyone else should have to take extensive time out of THEIR day to hold your hand and walk you through fixing YOUR fuck-up. Because I'm such a god damn happy and friendly son of a bitch, I'll lay it out in easy to follow idiot-proof steps.

1. Delete your entire Quake2 directory.

2. Reinstall Quake2 from your CD.

3. Download and install the v3.20 patch (which UUD already posted...)

4. Download the ALL PLAYERS zip file, it contains all of the player models and skins that can be used on the servers.

5. Unzip that file to your c:/Quake2/baseq2/players folder.

6. In that "players" folder, delete any of the folders of the models you DO NOT want to see in the game.

7. Start Q2 and go to multiplayer > player setup > download options and for "player models/skins", select NO. This should prevent you from ever downloading any further player models and skins from the server and you will already have all the available male, female, and cyborg skins.

If after all of that, you STILL have any problems, please take a number and the next available customer service representative will be with you as soon as possible.

You shouldn't even have to reinstall q2. Just applying the patch again should do it.
Yes, I suppose you can have someone send you their "Players" folder... though, it won't be me, and definitely not Focalor.   

Fixing this should only take 3 minutes including time to download the patch itself (depending on internet connection of course), or about half as long as it took me to write this post.
