Hey everybody, hope you remember me. I remember everyone of you. To show that I made a little map. It should be fun on the rails server. Anyways - no textures need, just the map. check it out!

Hmm, well in true demo review style: plus/minus format
+ in ffa maps im a big fan of spacious rail areas contrasting with narrow choke points(e.g., near spawn pad). You got that
+ like where you place teleport and some of the catwalks (creating angle shots)
- what's the purpose of the pool? will become a completely unused area...maybe place a teleporter at pool bottom leading to a closed area full of goodies(armor,etc.)?
- in the big area with boxes, maybe add some rock piles to create more obstructions for peek-a-boo rail battles, since the map design suggests rail fights.

BASTERMATE: Thanks for the input. I have wanted to do some serious mapping and someday I will, but this like my other maps, zthrail00,zthrail01,raingod is thrown together. For a long time I was stuck with a old mac and had the HARDEST time doing anything with maping due to the fact that I had to do everything through VPC. I couldn't even use a good compiler... .
So now here I am with a good comp still being lazy. Nevertheless, I do intend on going back through the map and putting some finishing touches on. The pool for one. It will become something that does contribute to game flow. perhaps like you said, an area with wanted goodies. Who knows.
The big area with the boxes is going to recieve a face lift as is the center area, I wanted more peekaboo shots too.
Thanks for the input. I will focus on those areas.

My opinion is that this map overall is way too big. It would make all fights occur on a flat surface, and the railgun the only viable weapon. Without a grapple, I don't think that this would be a good rail only map though.
I do see much potential for a massive Vanilla style map. You would need to break the larger rooms into smaller rooms, or add more cover. Things like pillars an boxes would do. The ability to walk outside and manipulate with the outer workings of the map is something that really works in favor of this map. Just don't forget to add trigger_hurts at the bottom of all of the pits. Relying on people to die from fall damage never works out.
I could see this map having basically two of every weapon, with a hidden BFG. There are lots of nooks and cranny's to hide items, powerups, and power weapons. The only downside is that a map this large is a surefire sheridan style map. One player with power armor and copious amounts of slugs and rockets just wins while everyone else fights and has fun.

Played it on rails today with about 7 ppl
went good, there are a few areas that could be taken out, and some of the upper views of lower regions tweaked a bit.
some of the transition between areas worked really kewl, dunno what to call em except the curved corners.
too much falling out the map, and at least one place in the map to get stuck in and can't get out
