Richard Dawkins, an Oxford professor and author of the book "The God Delusion", is interviewed by CBC reporter, Evan Solomon - who also happens to have a masters degree in religious studies.

Heh I'd seen that awhile back, just watched it again.

Hard not to chuckle at the grandiose pomposity of the interviewer's tone at the beginning... and somewhat disingenuous phrasing, like:

But for an Oxford professor named Richard Dawkins, there's no questions at all.

We decided to sit down with... "Richard Dawkins"...

Richard Dawkins is confident Darwin's theory of evolution explains everything...





But Solomon seemed a smidge more respectful after the interview than going into it.

Yeah, the interviewer is hilarious. I enjoyed the part where Richard Dawkins is trying to explain morality. He essentially says in our evolutionary past, it was beneficial to an individual to be good to another since they were likely family / part of the tribe / going to see them frequently / etc.....He then says today that same instinct to be good exists today to total strangers, and is a misfiring. And Soloman replies that we're "horny to do good?". Prof. Dawkins is like "I'm sorry?"

At about 11:50 or so in the video...

Maybe in a few decades the rationalists will be the interviewer, Solomans the interviewee, and the tv audience will be absolutely fascinated (polite way of saying amused) with his ideas.

I think this is 3 years old. Evan is usually a little more professional in his interview technique (these days) but I guess he let his faith and scholastic background rule his head that day. He was reprimanded later to pay attention to his objectivity as a TV reporter.
