Perhaps they could pull their heads out of their asses and realize that they could be getting free publicity for their obscure mod for a years old title, simply by asking people to include their names in a text file as contributors of the original geometry of the models.

They didn't make these .md2 files, and in essence they ripped off the concepts they used for their models from the quake 2 models which are freely available, so I have trouble seeing them as wholy original works of art or intellectual property worth haggling over.

If I drew the mona lisa in crayon on a napkin, I wouldn't expect the same level of respect that original artist got after I outright copied the subject of his work and made it in a slightly different medium, which is essentially what the gen guys did with the q2 weapons.

If the generations mod for q3 made any money at all (outside of that gay ass fileplanet hosting), and the people who were freely distributing these converted q2 models were charging money that the gen guys weren't getting a share of, I'd cry a salty tear for the devs who made the models for the generations mod.

For the record: Paril was the one who originally took the Quake III Generations models and converted them to md2, with the results posted over at Q2Cafe. The Generations guys didn't like this, and asked that the conversions not be made available any more. As a result, Paril respectfully took them down. Posting them in new paks may not be such a wise idea at this point, unless the Gen guys have had a change of heart.

Either that or an argument between TS members and Tabun. This would be no better than that old argument between Berserker and o'dium.
