Didn’t see where to put this so I put it here. I’ve been out of the game for a long time but trying to make middle age come back. I miss it a lot. So hello old friends atleast I got this far.

Ok, I have a 32" Dynex flat screen and its highest  resolution is 1360 X 768. I am trying to play quake and the highest in the game I can reach is 1024 X 768 in full screen mode. If I try higher in jumps out of full screen mode. Any tips?

Quake / Re: fps? whats a good number when checking using cl_drawfps?
« on: December 12, 2011, 07:57:44 PM »
VaeVictis,
That lets me under stand a little better. I have my network/connection settings according to the graph looking like below

-----------------^----------------------^---------------------------^---------------------------------------------

I mean really smooth with a little hick-up every now and then. The graphics looks awesome to, but what I get is what I would say is video lag because the graph doesn't show a hiccup or anything when it does it. I have my fps pretty stable no matter what map at about 690-720 Fps. I just cant get rid of the lag in what looks to be in the video. Any clues? I know its hard to give remedy when you yourself cant see what I am talking about but I do not know how else to explain it, and yes I am using the R1Gl.

Quake / fps? whats a good number when checking using cl_drawfps?
« on: December 10, 2011, 10:50:27 PM »
I been trying to get more and more out of my quake and I am coming along fine, but I am a little confused about fps and I have been reading every where about it. When I use the cl_drawfps 1, I get about 488 is my high and 350 is my low. My ping is any where from 14 to 44 depending on what time of day it is. When I use the timerefresh in console I get around same numbers as the showfps so I am assuming that the cl_drawfps and timerefresh is same thing just one is 1 time reading and other is full time reading. I can reach as high as 1288 when tweaking certain settings in my auto.cfg file but I am confused on whether to play it high numbers or low numbers. I truly can not tell a difference between the two. If anyone wants to take a minute to explain for me I would be grateful.

WoW, I guess for years now something has been going wrong because my Quake2 Directory has "Quake2/maps" and it is 1.2gig in size, and  "Quake2/baseq2/maps" it is 79.9mb. I have a "Quake2/baseq2/env" 11.9mb and there is  "Quake2/env" which is 120mb. " "Quake2/textures" is 192mb where the one in "Quake2/baseq2/textures" this one is only 20.9mb. Any tips?

Also when I deleted all my cfg's to start from scratch, Some where it was reading and saying at the Boot console screen in Quake2 it read, "Could not exec r1gl.cfg" or close to that. What it was doing was still referencing this exec command but I had uninstalled every "config.cfg" and every "r1gl.cfg" and every autoexec.cfg" in quake2 with show hidden files, show system files and dont hide extensions of known file types ,,,,, and I still got the message. Any clues? I did system restore which I do not believe in but I guess that was my Jesus moment of the year cause for some reason, system restore was on and I never use it or have it on, but I did say a lil prayer when I couldn't get it to boot at all saying "Doesn't recognize gl driver".... I have all this backed up, I probably have one of the largest Quake2 directorys in the world! hahahahaha But I dont want to redo all this, us old dudes should have it down pat, but the problem is we done it so many times and know the pains. First it's quake2 then Itunes so on and so on then Reinstall OS... I do not miss it at all..... This is the only game I play because of my music career and so I would like to get some advice please.... Old dogs can learn new tricks! :) :help:  :please:

Quake / Quake2 directory and baseq2 have same name folders?????
« on: October 20, 2011, 07:54:43 PM »
I am reinstalling my OS after 2 years and 4 months,,, not bad if I say so myself. I am backing up everything and I noticed that in my Quake2 directory and baseq2 have same name folders like "Maps" >>C:\Quake2\textures and then there is >>> C:\Quake2\baseq2\textures and more to mention... I would think that all of these duplicates would go as one in the main C:\Quake2 folder,,, am I wrong?

Thanks Acer,,, Been awhile since I have had problems and yes,, I remember now that you said it... Thanks Bro! Problem solved!

I just noticed that I only have about 6 different Models in  "Multiplayer>Player Setup>Model"  but my "Quake2>baseq2>players"   folder is full of them... What happened and how do I get them to show back up?  :please:

Quake / Nhancer and the config settings help
« on: August 01, 2010, 01:23:29 AM »
When I play quake2 I use "nHancer" to configure my "SLI" and many other settings such as anisotropic filtering, Anti-Aliasing and such. Question is, Do I leave these type settings out of my configs and let nHancer do the work or how does this work. My SLI is working with quake2, I use the "Show Bar Graph" option so I can see it working. Just a little confused, when I go to console and use "cvarlist", I see settings set that nHancer controls and wondered if they conflict.
And whats the cmd for saving the cvarlist to a text file please? :help:
