Wow.... I got a email from tastyspleen admin today to come join some ffa game tomorrow, didnt even know I had an account here so I logged in and I stumbled across this thread.
Its a real shame what happened to Ryan, trust me the last thing you want to see if your best friend get smoked by a Lafarge cement truck that came flying out of a neighborhood around a blind corner.... the driver of the truck was 75 years old.... GG
He broke every bone in his face, broken jaw, multiple skull fractures, broken neck, force of impact was so severe it sheered most of the nerves in his head (completely blind for life, no sense of smell and little sense of taste) and so much blood loss I was covered from head to toe. No movement and very little if any breathing from him for 3 minutes and out of nowhere its like his soul entered back into his body for a second chance, spent the next 2 minutes chocking on the insane amount of blood bleeding internally within his face and out of nowhere he does a push up and tries to get to his feet, what a fucking trooper...... that's superman shit right there
Spent the next three months in a coma and from the looks of things and what doctors were saying he was going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life but I kept faith he would pull through and one day he started to slowly wake up and use hand gestures to communicate since he could not speak.
Well its been just about 6 years to the day of his accident and those years have been far from easy, I hang out with him every day since. Considering everything hes been through hes still doing pretty good if you ask me. At first he didn't act anything like the Ryan I knew, he weighed 130 lbs(usually 200 lbs), could barley eat, speak or walk its like he was reborn but hes come a long way, hes pretty much back to his wise ass self again and its good times hanging out with him. There really is not much you can do when your blind but we both love music so we listen to a lot of it, and we also like to listen to some TV shows they can still be funny and entertaining without vision, and we smoke a bit of the green and eat a shitload lol, we eat take out almost every day and were still in good shape! Considering everything that has happened to him and what he has to go through every day of his life he never complains..... I really don't think there is anybody on the planet who can do it like him, oh and girls are still all over the guy, somehow through all of this he kept his good looks because of the $100,000 plastic surgery which left him in pain for a good month or two.
Just like keeping faith in him coming out of the coma I keep faith that one day (hopefully soon) with all the stem cell research going on and all the people becoming blind in war from head trauma there will be a cure to revive these optic nerves, and when that day comes we will come play some quake 2 like the good ole days
Anyways just thought I would give an update of the situation
Also wanted to say thanks to everybody who had concern for Ryan and thanks for all the get well wishes!
