Yes, Qexpo is online, although in past some have hosted local LAN games or other meatspace events to coincide.  Plus there may be other online activities outside of the site itself.  The concept is based on virtual 'booths' where people show off projects, provide tutorials, or share nostalgia.  A great example is right here on tastyspleen:  http://qexpo.tastyspleen.net/

The idea is a bit retro given all the possible online outlets for creativity now.  But that's one of the reasons to have it-  with so many islands of forums, social media groups, and code repositories, it might be nice to come together for a few days and see what everyone else is doing.  The time limitation is key.  Past Qexpos have varied from 1 to 4 weeks.

Something new in this Qexpo will be some degree of interaction.  Visitors will be able to register and post comments.  Some news items and events could be coordinated prior to the event.

Booths will only be open for two weeks and afterwards the entire site is closed and archived.

Hi!
qbism here, purveyor of enhanced software rendering for Q1 and Q2, such as https://github.com/qbism/Quake2-colored-refsoft .  But that's not why I'm here.

After a 5-year hiatus, the virtual fan-made exhibition known as Quake Expo is returning!  It happens to be the 20th anniversary of Quake this year, but it's the Q2 content the folks REALLY want to see.  :bigshades:  The 2008 expo was hosted here at tastyspleen with a large Q2 turnout, and it would be great to see that level again.

website:  https://qexpo2016.com
Registration opens:  May 14
Expo:  July 16 - July 30

Registration is earlier than past expos because this one will be more interactive.  Comments by members, groups, etc.  Certain news and events could occur before the expo.

Could use a news poster, especially a Quake 2 expert.  If anyone's interested in this or other roles, please PM me or email per profile.

In any case, it's time to start planning booths and events, and hope to see you there!
