Thanks, Whirlingdervish - you're the best, so incredibly friendly.
You and Alpha certainly know how to make people feel welcomed ;)

Got that older version of Q2Pro and anti-cheat working now - happy fragging!

Not a bad idea to use Anticheat anyway, especially if you have the ability to do so. Then again, I don't think you should feel "forced" to do it either just because one person accuses you of something in error. If you aren't cheating and simply don't WANT to fuck with it, then that's everyone else's problem and they'll just have to get over it.

Thanks, Focalor.  I agree.  I'm not a fan of change after I got it all good with Q2Pro, but sounds like getting "anti-cheat" to work would be the only way to silence these accusations.

MCS_FaderJok0:
Thanks for the tips.  Hope it's not too drastic a change from Q2Pro.
Either way, I'll give AQ2 a go.  Hope all goes well and we can close this thread.

and anti-cheat runs smoothly with that client?

for the record, I've tried downloading and using anti-cheat, but for whatever reason I can't get it to work right with Q2Pro.  It says it's installed, but when I connect to the server it still says I'm not using it.  Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?  In any event, I stopped trying to get it working.

Is anti-cheat purely a r1Q2 thing?  I'm not a fan of r1Q2.  On my old machine, I actually get less framerates with r1Q2.  Things work better and Q2Pro does seem smoother to me.

Alpha, I see that you use Q2Pro - does anti-cheat work for you?  If so, would you mind sending me details on what needs to be done to get it updated and working properly with Q2Pro?  I'd have no problems using it if it was quicker and easier to set up properly in Q2Pro.

Whirlingdervish:  you sound like a very angry person whose mind is already made up based on these really shitty and inconclusive clips.  I am very happy you are not the decision maker / admin for these servers.  I am very confident the admins will agree - there is no bot use here.

the problem is that this is essentially a "witch-hunt".

Someone new comes around, does well, and is immediately called out as a bot.  The "snapping effect" is something most good railers do.  You track the opponent and snap the wrist right before the shot.  I see plenty of others do this -- "crazymofo", "crazypanda", "Bud", "Pile00. . . something", just to name a few.

The demos presented in this case couldn't possibly prove anything.  You can't compare the demos posted here to, say, the other one Alpha posted for "gunner".  In the gunner clip, the evidence is clear and there's no question.

To your point "
Have you attempted in any way to prove you aren't cheating other than saying "I don't cheat!"?

What exactly would you have me say that would possibly satisfy the likes of you or alpha?   My guess is nothing.  For what it's worth, I've never looked into botting, I don't know what they're called, I don't know how they work, where to install them and, quite frankly, I wouldn't waste my time.  I understand that some people use bots, it sucks and it ruins the fun for everyone, but you can't call decent railers out as bots simply because there's a "snapping effect" in their game.

I am a very active (and I'd like to think highly regarded) member of the Q2 LMCTF community and play quite a bit.  In fact, I organize weekly pub games and run our Official League:  www.lmctf.com/beatdown.  Why would I jeopardize my reputation among my peers by using a bot in a rail-only mod?  It just wouldn't make any sense.

Anyway, that's my attempt at a defense.  Probably not up to your standards, but I gave it a shot.

Thanks, MCS_FaderJok0 for sticking up for me.
I appreciate it.

I don't mean to disappoint anyone, but I do not use a bot, sorry.
