Quake / Re: Disappearing player models
« on: January 07, 2013, 08:30:36 PM »That looks to me like some very unluckily timed packet loss, nothing more. There's not much you can do about that, either. Maybe try playing at 2am instead? For it to be unlucky, it would be unfrequent. It's pretty much doing this all the time, especially in the evenings even though my ping doesn't change. It's more than just packet loss, it's some server setting (I don't know what it's called) that's supposed to lessen the impact of wallhacking by being more strict as to when to send the player model, but it seems with anybody with more than 10 ping it seems it makes players disappear at the wrong time. It doesn't do that in real vanilla quake2. It's so bad tonight coupled with people constantly freezing and moving very fast that it made it pretty much impossible to rail and there's a couple people on there with 10 ping who jump out from behind corners and you actually see their rail trail before you see their player model, then you see their player model appear with zero speed then skip off like a jackrabbit across the map behind another corner or stop just before you lead your rail so you can't get an accurate shot off. I really really wish this would get better, I wouldn't care so much but this is the only vanilla DM server in North America left populated with players around the clock and it's been a couple weeks like this and so far no comment of any mods or admins about it.
