Warkilla, did you used to play at heat.net under the same name Warkilla? But with a clan tag I mean. I can't remember what tags though at the moment.    :bigcry:

Uh, yeah I think I did play on heat.net a long time ago.  Been so many servers over the years I can't remember them all.  I've used the name Warkilla for YEARS now, ever since 97 when I first stated to play Quake2.  When Quake2 first came out I started playing with the name "killa" and then this clan asked me to join them.  They all had to put the word "WAR" at the beginning of their name and so that's where my nickname "Warkilla" came from.  A lot of people have made fun of the name over the years, it's a pretty weird name but that's how the name came about.  I have no idea what happened to the "WAR" clan  but I was too busy with school back then so I kind of fizzled out of the clan.  I kept the name though because there was a lot of new players starting to use the name "Killa" so I figured "Warkilla" would be a good name to differentiate myself from all the other players.

Anyone who uses the word newb is an idiot...such a stupid word.  And to answer your question, I just don't enjoy 1v1.  I play DM.  I will admit that since I don't ever play 1v1, I'm not very good at it, which might be why I don't like it.  Sure I could play it more and probably get better, but I'd just rather play DM.  I enjoy it much more, it's more exciting to me.

I have the cheapest Optical wired mouse I could find.  It doesn't have any markings to indicate the brand, but I bought it at Fry's Electronics in Phoenix AZ for 7 dollars a few years back.  It's still working and I love it.  Thing rocks.....

Um, I think I may have played on that server back in the day.  However the only clan I ever played with was the "WAR" Clan.  When I first started playing quake online my name was "Killa" but to be in the clan you had to add "War" to the beginning of your name.  I went ahead and joined, adding war to the beginning of my name and it stuck and it's been the same ever since.  So yeah the only clan I was ever associated with was the "WAR" clan but I don't know what ever happened to those guys.  But as far as I know I've been the only Warkilla over all these years so if you saw one then it was probably me.

Quake / Re: Reminiscence about the year that was...2005.

Well, being new to this forum I figured I'd write a quick somethin somethin.  Being up here in Alaska I feel really lucky that one of the few servers I get under 200 ping happens to be Tastyspleen.  Over the last 9 years that I've been playing quake2, Tastyspleen has to be one of the best servers.  I remember starting out playing Wolfenstein 3D, then Doom, Doom2, Duke Nukem, Quake1, and then Quake2....well, I figured I'd always progress onto another game once a newer version came out.   For some strange reason this game just got under my skin and I've had the hardest time defending why I still play it to all my friends.  It wasn't until last night when I was reading a thread by another person on this forum that I figured out why it is I love it so much.  The physics of quake2 are so unique.  The double jumping allows you to move so fast in the game.  With all of these new games coming out attempting to make their physics as realistic as possible, they've limited how you can maneuver around the levels.  Sure, they are realistic, but the pace of the game is too slow.  Besides, I'd rather be able to double jump my way accross a level and make an insane leap to a ledge you couldn't normally make it to.  That's what makes quake2 so fun!  When I play Quake4 or Unreal Tournament they just don't seem to have the speed that Quake2 has.

Anyhow here I am still playing this game and playing many of you who I've seen off and on through the years on this great server.  I must admit I'm not exactly sure where the servers located or what kind of server specs consol or who ever runs it has.  I can't even imagine how much time the admins spend on keeping the server up and running, along with giving up valuable bandwidth so we can all play but I must say, THANK YOU!  It's so great to have such a great server that all of us can play on!

So thanks Admins, and thanks to all of you people that I play every night, it's been fun and I'm sure I'll be fraggin with you later!

BigwigKEA, is it really that big of a deal if I reply to an old post?  Take it easy, it's not the end of the world.  No one else has a problem with it.  My first time here and I was going through the forum finding old posts where people had mentioned my name.  I'm glad not all the members are as uptight as you.  By the way I forgot to mention Elysium.  He worked me pretty consistantly tonight.  Great player!  I don't know who'd I'd bump but he'd be on my list.

Wow, that's an impressive display of skill.  I've been playing quake2 since it came out and I can't even come close to pulling off 90% of those jumps.  I've tried several of them and I can't even come close.  I don't know if it's my crappy key configuration or what but I can't get strafing down as well as you and some other players I run into.  I'm just blown away.  I can't even imagine where my skill level would be if I could master some of those.  Great demo, I'm totally blown away!

Quake / Re: PINGBOT!
« on: January 16, 2006, 02:55:43 PM »
Hey there guys, I see Slikkster was saying I use a ping bot or ping cheat and I just had to lay it out on the table that I do not use any such tactics.  I am in Alaska and I am finally playing on a DSL connection.  I used to play with 300+ ping on a dialup from up here a few years back and could hold my own most of the time.  Anyhow I'm not super computer savey to know how ping works so I can't say why it's so high.  I don't know where the tastyspleen sever is but I imagine it's in the lower 48 and I'm up here so for what ever reason my ping is pretty high even though I have DSL.  That said, the 150 ping doesn't bother me, I don't know any better.  I'm sure if I had lower ping I would be able to adjust and maybe become slightly better than I am now, but I'm content with my skill level.  I loose to guys and I beat alot of guys.  I don't get pissed when i loose or use my ping as an excuse, it's just a game and I really enjoy it.  I don't know how else to defend my ping haha but it is what it is and if anyone thinks I cheat, you'll just have to take my word for it that I don't.

Quake / Re: Are Frags important?
« on: January 16, 2006, 02:40:51 PM »
Are frags important?  Well that seems like a trick question, well of course they are.  If frags weren't important then you'd have a game like Rocket Arena where you jump into a match 1v1 and you play 1 frag until your dead and then the winner plays the next person.  That's not what we're playing.  When we're talking about DM which is what I think most of us have been playing, and what we are referring to here, the whole game revolves around frags.  You have a timed game and in the end it's who gets to 30 frag first.  I don't see anything wrong with wanting to be that guy that's at the top when the game ends.  If I didn't care about that and I was more concerned about "polite" ways of playing I might do 1v1 or rocket arena, which is great if that's what you're into.  As for me I don't see how you can even question if getting alot of frags is important.  That

Wow, ok so most of you will probably laugh that I'm just now posting to these threads but I just started to use this Forum.  I had to search my name and saw I was listed on a few of your all-star picks (appreciate the nod) and thought this was an interesting thread.  I figured I'd put down my all-star team.  I'm really bad with quake2 nicknames but a few come to mind that I think are damn good quake players.  So here's my 9 top All-star team if I were to put one together in no particular order....  Of course there are probably alot more, maybe I'll come back and edit this next time I'm on a server and one of you that aren't on my list kicks my butt, but until then, this will work :)

1) Me, Warkilla
2) Kong
3) Travolta
4) Punk
5) Chattanoo
6) Jquestt
7) Asterix
8) the Crazed
9) Matster

Well, I'm new to the forum here but I was reading a thread on this post started by Crazed where he was discussing the use of the BFG.  I've often found myself arguing my pro BFG opinion.  You'll hear alot of players throw out NOOBIE when someone uses the BFG, but the BFG in the right hands can be a powerful weapon and in the hands of the wrong player it can be disaster.

First of all like Crazed said, in order to be affective you have to shoot the BFG and keep the person, or persons you

Quake / Warkilla - cheat or no cheat, that is the question?
« on: January 04, 2006, 02:25:52 AM »
Hello fellow Quakers, Many of you know me by the name of Warkilla.  I've been playing quake2 since 1997, my freshman year of college.  I've pretty much played nonstop since the game came out and I can't even begin to attempt to guess how many hours I've logged playing this game.  Many of you have been alot of fun to play against over the years and I have a blast every night we get on and get to frag eachother.  Sad to say however, there are a handful of quake2 players that seem to think I cheat, or bot.  I'm going to start this thread in an attempt to shut one of them up.  I'm going to try to find the time to record myself playing where you can see my screen and my hands using my mini DV camcorder and I'll post the video online.  For now as a request from noobsk! I'm going to post a screenshot of what I see when I play.  He seems to think I use a wall hack or something.  In any case Hopefully sooner than later I'll post that video of my playing.  Hopefully I'm having a good night the night I video myself :D  In any case here's that screenshot of what I see when I play.
