Quake / Re: freeze tag? are you guys interested
« on: September 08, 2005, 06:20:47 AM »
I've never played it either, but t sounds funny! I'd give it a try, sure! (console was talking about server resources -- it shouldn't take up too much more, right? I mean, if some people go onto the freezetag server, there might be less people on the other at that time, so it would even out, right?  ???)

Awww but they've kind of become his trademarks... the next time you see "i r teh pwn0r0r of j00" or "bfg pussy" you're not going to think of anyone else, right?  ;)

(Wow I haven't been here in ages...) Thanks Daelmun and Geikram! I'm trying all that stuff and info on the pages you gave the links of, right now!

EDIT: [several hours later] Thank you so much! Heh-heh, I made a little Matrix-style bit! :D

<< Save Target As >>

Just extract it to the Quake2 folder, it will put a pak file in baseq2 and these 2 files in the Quake2 folder:

985 Whole Thing Re-Cammed.bat
985 First Part, Matrix-Style!.bat

If you double-click them they will play that particular demo.

If you don't mind leaving your computer on all the time (console has to!) then just set up your own server, it's very easy, just find yourself a freeware FTP server program (zFTP and FileZilla are both great and freeware although i find zFTP to be easier to use). Then when you have set up the server (whichever one you wanna use), find your IP (www.whatismyipaddress.com works well but be careful, it has loads of pop-ups). In your address bar type:  ftp://your-ip:your-port-number replacing those bits with the numbers... you should be able to then download files from yourself :P . With zFTP (I don't know about FileZilla) you can set up user names and passwords, ban certain IPs from connecting to you, etc. As long as you are connected to the internet, anyone anywhere should then be able to connect to your FTP server and download files right from your computer. But if you have a lot of people downloading at once, you'll need a fast connection otherwise the download rates will be rediculously slow.

Of course if you don't wanna leave your comp on, just forget I even posted this  :D

LOL!!!! I'm guessing you were recording something at like 500MB/Sec sound quality!
I've completely fulled my primary HDD before!
Hah, no, I was putting an effect on a big WAV file, little knowing it needed all that space for
temp files. Mind you it only had 600MB before I started...  :-\
Luckily that was a slave drive. Filled your primary HDD?? Can you do anything then?!

Everyone was getting (and still is as of this writing) that lag today.
No, they haven't. I normally ping 120-135 and the only thing that I noticed was about 20 ping added.
It's really not much of a problem for me, but perhaps this is because of the route the connection
goes through. I'm just using broadband through a normal phone line (no special cable thingy)

That looks and sounds frighteningly similar to "hentai".

Yeah I know about that by looking at the URL it will link to. There's another similar one
about vampires sucking blood which has also got me.

Cornholio keep your hair on. And no I've never heard of them. Probably bigger over where

I am in a top poster list?? Huh? Something went wrong there!

Erm, I don't particularly use the forums here very much...
I find them not very useful, and become cluttered with strange
spam topics (yes like my flash animations topic :P). So I don't really
know who posts the best posts.

I was going to vote for the top 5 players who I find friendliest (to me):

Solo_Senshi
M^tster
the Crazed
Dr_Cornholio
ToxicMonkey^MZC
(Ichigo / Fr4gG3D where are you???)

But I didn't vote because that wasn't the point of this topic. However
I must say Gator's, daelmun's and Solo_Senshi's posts have been quite useful
and erm... professional. Unlike mine.
