ahaha "Knightmare" the creator of KMQuake 2
There's the solution to your problem right there in the text:

no hardware acceleration detected.
Please install drivers provided by your video card/GPU vendor.

You're running the default Microsoft driver.  Get the right one for your GPU:
http://www.nvidia.com
http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx

And so im now installing my AMD ATI video drivers 10.2 now and its working like a charm thanks Nightmare! :) im back in business... :)

Im currently in touch via e-mail of the creator of KMQuake2 (Knightmare Quake 2)... so i hope to have this issue resolved soon. ;) wish me luck :)

I just tried copying and pasting the ref_gl.dll file also into my baseq2 subfolder and it SORTA ran but crashed saying "Couldn't initialize window".  :?

Your hardware is exactly the same as when it did work?

Yes same comp that i've used before and same vid card and same everything... so now when i run the KMQuake 2 engine or the executable .bat file, it says "couldn't find open gl render" and yes it worked before when i installed it that ONE time but now when i did reinstall it, it doesn't work... says the thing in quotes... :x

Hi again, i was wondering why my KMQuake2 mod file wouldnt work because i used to play a modded game  from planet quake or fileplanet... now whenever i run the kmquake2 executable file it won't start up it would say ED:"couldn't load* open gl render" then closes

*note: i did have this downloaded file a while ago, and the "Hell is only for heroes" DID work then, but not now, dunno why... can someone give me pointers in how to fix this game/mod version... im talking about this game

http://planetquake.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Quake2.Detail&id=1271 this one
http://www.orbitfiles.com/download/id1138031239 or here
http://www.fileplanet.com/161823/160000/fileinfo/QUAKE-II---Mission-Pack:-Hell-is-only-for-Heros or this...

please tell me what i need to do to play this lovely mod again...
**unsure if this is the right place to post this...**

NVM it seems normal i hope... ill try again tommorow because its late time here on this post. I quick switched from software, to default OpenGL, then to R1GL and seems it works... ill see then if the red models come back ill reply back soon ;)

*ED: It works normally now... still dunno why it turned out red in the beginning... maybe from a long time away of playing quake? :? Well, looks like I'm ready to rock again! :P  :rocketright: :rocketleft:

Well i found out what it was. It seems that the GL files if at all (default OpenGL and the revised R1GL) causes those horrible red models :(. So now im forced to run again on software mode :'(

who says 24@25 or even older people can't play quake 2/any FPS games

*I Heard that Pro Gamers quit after 25 Years old because their reflexes are not up to par and sight and coordination is aging* is that true?

I'm 29. My vision sucks from working around people welding and not using proper eye protection. That's why I started using brightskins, because after a while everything on the screen starts looking a bit fuzzy to me. Don't let them fool you, they quit playing video games because their bitchy and needy new wives MADE them quit.

Haha so true...
