Quake / Re: Quadz, the Loquaciously Multiloquent Member

PeeWee PM'd me a couple days ago about Quadz.  I never met him (well, if I did at QuakeCon I don't specifically remember him) but Jehar told me about his Q2 community back in the mid 00's (I'm not even sure the first year I went to QuakeCon :) )

He set me up with, and helped me learn hot to, a way to compile Q2 code on his servers so I could have linux libraries for my Quake 2 server.   I've used this community as an example to others of how things could be run.  I've used this community to promote getting massive Q2 games going at a local LAN for several years.  I've bragged about WallSpy for years (although most gamers don't seem to understand the point)

If anyone knows how, please send condolences to his family for me.

Can't do that one, celebrating the wife's birthday that night.  Hopefully homemade breaded fried shrimp, homemade fries and homemade icecream cake.  :)

I'd like to see how this works out too.  Is it something that can be done by the weekend or does it require some mod coding that's complex?

So what happens if I'm person number 5, I go get a drink/take a leak/etc. and when  I come back I'm kicked because right after I left 5 people left then I didn't move/spawn/whatever.  Does TS's liability insurance cover screen/mouse damage on my end?   :lolsign:

I've seen the DM server full a lot too.  Is it people who've lost connection and it won't let go or people who don't play, just sit there?  I'd say if they don't movie for X minutes (dead, spawned but not moving, etc) get rid of them.  Except Wallfly.  :p

Quake / Re: Best way to get the "vanilla" experience in Quake II?

I had a VooDoo 2 so I didn't have that crappy looking software mode.  So running in OGL looks (almost) like it did back in '97.

Of course why not just run "quake2.exe".  It should work.

Is there a list of maps somewhere?  I downloaded the map all maps.exe & I have most of the maps on the TS servers.  Would save some time nexttime.  :)

Awesome time.  Got my son to play as my wife was sleeping so I'll have to tease him about his handle.   :rocketright:

Chaotic Dreams website is slow in loading & downloading.  Don't forget you can get the mod in the TS files section up top and don't forget the "all maps" file too.   :bump:

Hoping to get the wife and I playing tonight!   :smiley_abzm:

You mean the dll/so for the server?  I never noticed that had anticheat built in.

There should either be a cvar to disable the anticheat or just use older server dll's.  Did you also check planet gloom? http://www.planetgloom.com/files.html
