Yea, I think I got q2admin working at this point. Thanks for the comments about the server too, it is a homegrown little guy. 8mb down/1.5 up so it should run pretty darn well. Gets like 900k up to cali and what not. If youre in or around Chicago, it should run pretty quick for you. =) I remember BTF from way back... glad you guys are still going strong.  :afro:

Well I think I fixed one of the major issues...now I'm just trying to get the q2admin working. My router sure is flaky...

Well, I just checked with ASE and the server actually shows up there...so yea I don't know. I'm just going to leave it for now I guess, LoL.

I see that you joined BTF... =)

How did it run for you?

But yea I agree, I'm sure it's just the router or something acting up...anyways I'll probably be in there more then my friends, so if anyones up for some unliim. ammo, I'm always down.  :headbang:

Take care guys....ugh. back to work tomorrow.

So I've been messing with it....seems the port forwarding is ok...but i still have no idea why some others still can't see it...and why it doesn't show up n the main server lists like others do. I wouldn't mind others being able to join as well. It just doesn't make sense to me....

Maybe a fresh intall of everything?

Quake / A little server help?

Hey guys, first off let me commend you for this fantastic community you have going. I've been gaming here for quite a while now, and I used to actually post...but I couldn't remember the username or e-mail I used way back. I had a quake 2 server running for along time until it went down one day and I was just too unmotivated to start it back up for some reason. Well, now a few of my friend are back home from school (1 from the war), and it's time to get it back going again. I have run into a few problems though, and I was wondering if any of the experts here would be able to give me a hand.

The first problem. - When I try to enter my ip before I start the server, it says that it couldn't bind to the UDP port. (It's definately open, and I haven't changed any sort of router/firewall settings since I last had the server running.

Everything seems to be fine...except the server won't show up on the game server lists without me adding it directly. Some people seem to be able to see it, some people can't. When using Gamespy Arcade, I right clicked on the server and it had "67.175.10.101:0" as the IP listed. It also shows up as if it's in another country....when it's not. I'm not sure what is reallly going on, and I think it's really going to drive me insane soon if I can't seem to figure it out. I've been trying everything, but if anyone else has anything to add its always greatly appreciated.

The ip to the server is 67.175.10.101:27910 (I just restarted it, so some of the settings may be a bit off, as far as gameplay wise)

Thanks again, take care and have a good one. Happy memorial day to everyone as well. I kind of wanted to get it going for my brother who just got back into the USA not too long ago. Again, help is great appreciated. Take care.
