« on: November 26, 2021, 10:31:27 PM »
Man, the nostalgia. So many years, so much time gone by. I miss this.

I am doing well, as is my family! My son ( 8 ) plays a bit of RecRoom in VR, since we have a VIVE. I've tried to get him into some PC games, but, it is intermittent. I am still committed to eventually have him play Quake 2. Myself lately, I've been playing some Axiom Verge, as well as No Man's Sky. I keep thinking I'll come back to Q2, and know I could, but...heh, there is always a 'but'.

I miss you all, and hope everyone is doing well, if you remember me. Things change so much over time, its crazy. I love you all.

Take care.

I still exist, just haven't played Q2 in forever. Still occasionally check these forums, but more of a lurker than anything. Got a baby on the way, couple of weeks until he's here actually, so that's taken up some time. Moving here and there, general life things. I still miss this place though, miss playing Q2 with a lot of you guys (least anyone that remembers me that might be reading this). I spent a big chunk of time here a few years back (has it really been that long ago!?), and I'm so glad that this community still exists. Perhaps one day, when my kiddo gets old enough, and TS is still around, he'll be fragging with the best of them.

In any case, saw this thread with my name mentioned (3 years late no less  ) and figured I'd respond. Hope everyone is still having a fragtastical time in the land of Tastyspleen!

Its cool to see Tastyspleen up and still running after all these years, even if I don't play anymore. Kind of miss this place.
Perhaps when I eventually have kids, I'll have them on here rail splattering all your faces.

May TS & Q2 live on forever!

Maybe I'll install Quake2 again and come join up on some Sheridan! It has been years since I have played.

poetry / essays / short stories? / 224 word palindrome poem

This is pretty cool, a reasonably coherent, 224 word poem that is also a palindrome.

"Dammit I’m Mad"

by

Demetri Martin

    Dammit I’m mad.
Evil is a deed as I live.
God, am I reviled? I rise, my bed on a sun, I melt.
To be not one man emanating is sad. I piss.
Alas, it is so late. Who stops to help?
Man, it is hot. I’m in it. I tell.
I am not a devil. I level “Mad Dog”.
Ah, say burning is, as a deified gulp,
In my halo of a mired rum tin.
I erase many men. Oh, to be man, a sin.
Is evil in a clam? In a trap?
No. It is open. On it I was stuck.
Rats peed on hope. Elsewhere dips a web.
Be still if I fill its ebb.
    Ew, a spider… eh?
    We sleep. Oh no!
Deep, stark cuts saw it in one position.
Part animal, can I live? Sin is a name.
Both, one… my names are in it.
    Murder? I’m a fool.
A hymn I plug, deified as a sign in ruby ash,
A Goddam level I lived at.
On mail let it in. I’m it.
Oh, sit in ample hot spots. Oh wet!
A loss it is alas (sip). I’d assign it a name.
Name not one bottle minus an ode by me:
    “Sir, I deliver. I’m a dog”
Evil is a deed as I live.
    Dammit I’m mad.

Thanks for the get well comments guys, they are much appreciated  :thankyou:

Damn Sgt, you had all kinds of crap to go through! I had that same suction ball looking thing coming out of my stomach too. It worried me a little because I was afraid I'd go to move and squish all the stuff in it back inside me haha. I had the little morphine button as well, for the first night, I'd press the button and pass out for about 15 minutes, wake up, then repeat.

I know what you mean about them coming in every few hours to get vitals or blood from you. Luckily, I had some really nice nurses that seemed to genuinely care about what was going on. I think it was because I'm relatively young to have something like this happen to me. One even sat and talked to me for a while one night cause I was feeling a little down due to all I had been through. And yeah, coughing REALLY sucks, especially when you get the coughs that are sudden and you don't have time to prepare for them.

If I get a little time between laying back getting some rest, I may post up some pics of my newly acquired scar.

/dev/random / So, I was in the hospital...
« on: February 15, 2009, 04:19:25 PM »
So, I had to go to the hospital 4 days ago because of severe abdominal pain. Felt like a spiked baseball was rolling around in my stomach. I get there by ambulance at around 7:30am, and holy shit the ride sucked. Every little bump just added to the pain level. They get me there, then set me up for a CAT scan. After the first scan, they can't find anything conclusive, so I have to take another one with the contrast this time. In the meantime, I'm getting vial after vial of blood taken. Finally get the other one, and I don't hear anything for a few hours. Doctors start filtering in one after another and start giving me possibles for whats going on. I hear things from it might be food poisoning to part of my colon having a decrease in blood flow. Finally, the last doctor comes in and tells me they have to cut me open and perform surgery to find out what is actually going on, and I'll be heading off to it in about an hour. Man, that is some scary shit.

Now, the only thing I've ever been to the hospital for before was an appendicitis about 5 years ago. Very routine surgery, quick recovery time, ect. When they tell you they are about to cut you open, and they don't know what to expect when they do, it can mess with your head something fierce. So, they prep me up, take me in, and put me under.

I wake up a few hours later to a shit ton of pain. I've got tubes coming out of everywhere; an IV, a catheter, some kind of tube running out of my nose from my stomach, and a different tube coming out of my stomach. The plus side is, they could fix it and know now what was going on. Apparently, I had some kind of bacterial ulcer that had perforated and I was leaking gastrointestinal fluids into my system. Not pretty. If I hadn't had surgery when I did, I wouldn't be around to be even typing this. The doctors don't even understand why I had it at all. It wasn't anything I ate, just kind of randomly happened.

So, four days later and many tubes removed, I'm finally home recovering. I have a nasty 6 inch scar that goes straight up my stomach through my belly button. It doesn't have staples or stitches, but some new kind of skin "glue" that holds it together. Definitely makes you think about your life and how easily random events can totally screw your health. Just thought I'd share my little hospital experience with everyone.

Oh, and if I find who invented catheters, I will break one off in his eye. Fuck those things.

You make Jager sound reasonable.

 :smiley_aayz:

I'm all for killing all people. We overpopulate, and ruin everything in general. People with 18 kids should pit them all against each other in a fight to the death over parents love.

But seriously, just how stretched would her vagina be?
