Latest Catalyst drivers (8.4 i think)

Anyone else have trouble with them? They destroyed pretty much all of the 3d and 2d graphics for any engine newer than quake2 on my machine. I was using a laptop Radeon X 1150 which doesn't officially have any drivers available whatsoever, except that through some research I found out that it's supposed to use generic Catalyst drivers. The newest drivers were bad, but a roll back to 8.1 fixed all these problems.

I'm using 8.5 (the latest) & have no issues.  Been running Q2, ET:QW, Doom 3 & some misc. other games no problem.

what's the OS on the laptop?

do u have do hte updates though the catalyst program or u d/l it manually?

I just download manually when I want them.  Normally I check the notes to see if I should try.  I  always keep older versions handy, just in case.

thx man i actually did the updates before u replied , dunno if this might help neone with catalyst but the update dosent actually update to the latest driver automatically (as it says ) u have to manually d/l and go though the exe and then catalyst opens up and updates automatically , so u dont have to do any uninstalling or nething pritty cool but a bit confusing thats why i hadent updated to newer version
