The long-standing interpretation of Godwin's Law on Usenet where it originated, has been essentially: The person engaging in Reductio ad Hitlerum immediately loses the argument, and the thread can now end.

Regarding the Hitler achievement unlocked image vs. the LOLLERCAUST animation, I would concede we're in entirely subjective territory here. Personally, actually seeing an animation of people being gassed (ASCII though it was), complete with swastikas and LOL's at the individuals' demise, was a bit much for me at the time.

I do not, however, make any sort of promise to be entirely consistent in the future. It's always going to be a bit subjective.

In this case, substutite "science is interesting" with "I'll use my best judgement".
