disabling viewbob?

I'm pretty sure i'm using the right commands, viewbob is disabled in single player but not multiplayer

set bob_pitch "0"
set bob_roll "0"
set bob_up "0"
set run_pitch "0"
set run_roll "0"

The only reason I can think of for it not working correctly would have to be that the server has to set it, and if this is the case, why hasn't it been done?

weird,   I never noticed.

I put pitch to 10 and worked on home server,  but on rails it went away.
But,  it looks like it's at 0 on the server anyhow???

or just not noticable

Hmm.. I think it is because the servers run R1Q2 which seems to have discarded those commands for multiplayer mode. When I tried them it said 'unknown command', but they worked in singleplayer.

So I'm stuck with the bobbing in mp games? That'd suck, one thing I like about the quake series is having the ability to disable any effects that would annoy you.

Well, I hate view bobbing but I have never really noticed any bobbing in Q2 singleplayer or multiplayer. So I'm not sure what bobbing you're talking about, maybe you can you post a short demo?

I found that these are the default values:
bob_pitch 0.002
bob_roll 0.002
bob_up 0.005
run_pitch 0.002
run_roll 0.005

I suspect that everyone, by default, uses above settings when playing mp games but since you can't check them in mp I'm not 100% sure. But if the default settings (which IMO are negligible) really bother you then I'm afraid you're out of luck :?.

Those cvars are Game DLL cvars, not client/server. It's up to the Game DLL whether they are used, and what they default to.

Is there a command that removes the impact effect from landing after a big drop?

I want to be able to keep my aim constant, have the crosshairs jump after I land.

The trick to that is to be aiming where needed,  and fire the exact moment the 'jarring' effect passes. 
It might just be firing where you need to DURING the jar,  but the game points you where you are aimed
even though the crosshair drops a bit.  It's always a neat feeiling making that rail right as you land.

Maybe some coders can shed light on if that alters where you are aimed while it's happening.
I've made tons of kills right at impact though,  I think your only way to deal with it is to adjust for it.

Haven't examined the code yet, but i went into god mode, bound a key to noclip, and set sv_gravity to 9999, so that I could easily repeat over an over a drastic "impact bob" ...

Much to my surprise, my railgun shot does not appear to be affected by the "impact bob."  I'd need to examine the code to be certain, but it appears to be a kind of view bob that only affects the renderer, and not where the game thinks you're aiming.  (Strange that the crosshairs do move...)
