Took a break from Sinatra and Como to listen to some Classic Rock today. I'm too young for it, but wanted to list my favorites. (in order)
Yes
Eagles
Queen
Pink Floydd

Least favorite (I know I'm gonna tick some people off)
The Doors (being a fan of Glenn Miller, I can't deny that the Doors are the corner stone to ruining real music)
Velvet underground (Introduced pointlessly vulgar lyrics ruining music for all future generations and over all couldn't play or sing a singlenote)

Blues and or Bluegrass (Although I'm not as big a fan of Ray as I thought I'd be)
Recently found out that Etta James sang the blues. I only knew her name from "At Last" because my wife likes it.

Favorite band of all time:
Glenn Miller Orchastra (who knew)

Favorite Singer:
Tie between Como and Dino. Chi baba chi baba!
(Although I may be Al Jolson's ONLY fan)

Kids you know. I used to listen to Counting Crows and Blues traveler. Now it's all about how the Red red robin went bob bob bobbin' along.

so now you know and now you are self aware, something many people never achieve.

man, they suck. Like when you watched "casino royale" & "felt" the pain of the turture scene. That kind of "they suck".

I tried that. Thing is that with the Eagles you can check out any time you like... but you can never leave.

beatles always sounded.. whinny to me. eagles don't. I can't stand hotel calf (because it's played soooooooooo much). nobody plays desperado any more.

most fun concert i've been to was a 3 day long event called RockFest 98 in vanderhoof BC

Eagles were there, so was Dr.Hook, BTO, Trooper, April Wine, a Beatles cover band, and quite a few others im forgetting atm.

I loved it. even though i was one of the youngest there (15)

ACDC is considered classic rock though. I hear it on classic rock stations all the time. 1973.

I find the term "Classic Rock" to be a rather odd concept. When I was growing up and in high school (mid-60's) this was all the new music that was just coming out. And it was just called Rock. Its main essence was it was OUR (young peoples) music. We created it, played it and enjoyed it. It was completely ours and separate from our parents music, which was syrupy middle-of-the road stuff (Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole). And Rock just continued to evolve through the 70's, 80's and 90's as a continuum. So what's "classical" about it? Is that a simplistic term for just those decades or what? At what point does a song become classical (meaning a certain age) versus some other label? Very odd. And of course, there was a whole decade of music before that (50's stuff) that based on rockabilly, Elvis and 4-part harmony groups. Not sure what that's called these days.....

The main thing I liked about several classic rock bands was the BALLS that a few of the vocalists had. Guys like Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. They put some balls and dynamics behind their singing and belted it out. Chris Cornell is one of the only modern day vocalists I'd attribute such a quality to any more.

Elvis? Metal? Speaking of which, Glenn Danzig is the modern Elvis of heavy metal.... with freaky long pointy fingernails. CUT THOSE NASTY THINGS, YOU LITTLE SWOLLEN MIDGET!
