super sluggish

my Quake has been VERY sluggish.  Its so sluggish my shots are delayed by 2 sec easy and my graphics are blurry, VERY blurry, I can't stand it anymore!!  I get a headache trying to play.  

I have no idea why it is like this or how to fix it. I haven't dl'ed anything new or done any changes.
and its only MY PC.  my bf's q2 is fine so it has to be something to do with my particular computer not the connection.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?  I can't take it anymore its been a week and I NEED to get back to Quaking!

Any recent computer upgrades? Is vSync on?

is your ping also high for no reason?

might want to check your rate, and make sure its not set to 1 or something

ok first things first, i don't know shit about computers so lol.... bare with me

no recent pc upgrades and dunno about the vsync? what is that a console command?

ping seems fine, netgraph had green spikes. And i'll look xtyfe but its doubtful i have it set to 1 lol.

and I'm using r1q2

*edit  -  I did just reinstall my q2 a month ago or so but this is a problem i've only had the last week. I've been having all kinds of pc problems and it seems im going to have to reinstall my windows to, but i can't see that having anything to do with my q2.

not sure what to say iv had similar issues when q2admin sets my rate to 1 sometimes
reformatting can have dramatic effects

for example, i had issues in quake2 as well that i had no idea where they came from or how to fix it. but i formatted and they were all gone

OK so it says my rate is 10000.  should I change that?

and I had help re-installing my q2, He did save the config etc first.

if your rate is 10000, then its not the issue

yeah its so odd how this happened. just one day it was blurry and laggy,  and it never went away.

not many games use opengl like quake2 does
did you recently update your video drivers?
might have dropped the ball on support for it

What if you just start the game using quake2.exe and not r1q2? Same issue? Maybe your video card is going but you would see that with other applications/games too.
Try those things....

anyways if the server only has a few ppl its not as bad, but playing on a crowded server is just pointless.  Well if it isn't better in a week then i guess I'll do a re-install.?.

Really odd that lag and blurry graphics would have started at the same time; although if you're willing to post your baseq2/config.cfg someone's bound to notice if anything's really far off.
