Hehe, that was also my first thought: another arrow user!

Then I thought: I really like girls to have long hair

Then I thought: damn, another one playing like me with the sun shining directly at my monitor (well, at least some sort of annoying light)

Then I thought: Hmm, is that a pink sweater?

Then I thought: good thing I bought a red one

Then I thought: but damn, mya looks hot regardless

And that desk messy? Hmm, no way! I just cleaned mine and it looks worse than that by far.

Anyway, I'll go buy some food and stuff, and maybe play a game or two later if I don't fall asleep. Been wasting an hour writing about something I'm clueless about, and don't think anyone will be wiser reading it (the aliases stuff in xtife's thread). And here I just go rambling on about nothing. Grr. Doesn't have a recent pic to upload either, I could prolly take one, but I'm having a bad hair-year.

im so used to the w,s,a,d keys. i guess that everyone is different. some even prefer high sensitivity mouse control, but i prefer very low
(sensitivity levels of 3-5)

I was an arrow user when I first started out. Used Alt to jump but my keyboard was so old that it actually didn't have a windows button....then I got a new system and my keyboard wouldnt plug into the back of my machine since it still had the giant port plug....Anyways, had to get a new keyboard and of course the freaking windows button is right where the Alt used to be....so everythime I'd go to jump, I would....back to my desktop....so needless to say, I had to learn a whole new control set.....now I use d,f,s,e and its actuall alot better because I have more keys availiable close by to bind stupid shit to like "Hahahahahahah".....

bad thing i hate about my binds is they get im my way alot, and i end up pressing them on mistake

the binds thing happend to me,now I re-installed q2,so I don't have any binds besides team binds.

BTW..I'm an arrow user,I used arrows since I started,I couldn't get used to w,s,a,d...oh well.

another thing,I play q2 for exactly 1year...yayay

I wasn't aware that we had this amount of arrow key users on here. I'm also an arrow key user, and have been since I got Quake II on my 13th birthday on July 16th, 1999.

Before I got Quake II, I used to talk with people on a forum who already had it, and one of them suggested that I tried to use the arrow keys to move, left mouse to shoot, and right to jump. I tried it and it worked out for me...I think it worked out too well since it's harder to bind keys around the arrow keys in more of the newer games that require you to bind unnecessary things. But the simplicity of the controls is yet another reason to love Quake II.

I like the arrow keys because I think they are in a good position and they don't have any surrounding buttons next to them. That's my reasoning behind it, and I think everyone who said they used arrow keys so far are great players (definitely not including myself), so just continue doing what is working for you. Not like you needed me to say that, but still...

A question for all you odd ball arrow key users. Where do you bind your weapons?? Pray tell? $:-\$ Personally I use the mouse wheel for rail and Rockets and buttons 1-5 for SS, Chain, GL, HB and BFG respectively. For movement the old wasd with space suffices.

i bind my weapons to the keys right above the arrows. (delete,end,pgdn,pgup,home,insert)

uparrow moves be forward
downarrow is backpedal
leftarrow is turn-left --- rightarrow is turnright

ctrl is nextweap

keypad 0 is jump
keypad 1 is duck

mouse1 is fire
mouse2 is my strafe modifier (hold down mouse 2 and use left or right arrows to strafe)

Everyone always tell me the setup is weird. I think you're weird

why play with a handicap

might as well just go 100 percent keyboard and say to hell with the mouse

not using the wasd keys and their neighboring q,e,r,f,z,c,& v keys is ridiculous

it is akin to a person choosing to die cuz their religion doesn't allow blood transfusions

morons deserve death and arrow users need to wake up or you peeps deserve losses in q2

I use the mouse to turn/look/aim.
left mouse button is fire
right mouse button changes my weapon to chain
mouse wheel button is zoom
left/right arrow keys are strafe
up/down arrow keys ar forward/backward
alt=crouch
shift=jump

I am really not sure how that constitutes a handicap or why I should switch
straight to keyboard and say hell with the mouse.
