Console... Any chance in re-visiting the body pile up problem in the instagib server? Bodies are piling up with more people hitting the server. :/

Bodies are great as target for nades when trying to nade the railers! Don't make instagib more railbased than it already is by removing them

j/k, can see that bodies can be annoying, and instagib can be as railbased as it just wants to be as far as I'm concerned.

wouldn't hurt taking the pineapples off. I never understood why someone would want to spam fucking pineapples on an insta server anyway..........no skill in getting up high and lobbing the damn things all over the place in hopes of getting a frag or two.

Oh yeah.........not to come off bitching my first post I do like the server and the map rotation (now that I have it all). Seen some good skillz and players the last couple of weeks and hope to see more.

There are some players who grab the gl and sit between the cells on q2dm1 launching nades through a series of geometrically calculated bounces to get people heading to the lower RL.

Those folks are playing a completely different game from me. And, it is funny to rush them, they just panic!

Thanks for the welcome Bleach it's nice to be playing again. Been a long time.

Don't get me wrong........pineapples have a place in the game but I have always been of the opinion that it isn't on a rail server. I always felt that insta was more about skill than about random spamming of rockets, grenades, hyper or the chain. It takes skills to be competitive in an insta setting where anyone can camp up high and spam rockets or pineapples and maintain middle tier finishes on a map.

Just my opinion.....and those that know me will tell you I'm not easily swayed from my opinion

On railz, the 'nades are there for fun. There's not much opportunity for spam, as there are only grenades, no grenade launchers.

They weren't ever intended as a means of achieving a high score.

Yeah, handgrenades are a nice touch, I often fall back on them when playing an overly boring map (like the one with the pyramid in the middle). And spamming with gl and spamming hangrenades aren't even comparabale, it's two different worlds. And a well placed nade takes some skill, cerainly with q2a where you can't even use nadetimers

And as bleach say, if someone wins with using only nades they must be quite good at using handgrenades and play some sloppy railers. Only thing that can be annoying is when the nade is close to the railgun so you pickup the nades thinking you have the rail, and you don't

Anyway, I've watched a couple of competitive instagib demos (from clanbase), and they spam more with rail than anyone I've seen spam with nades. And you lose intrest after a couple minutes, tdm demos are so much more entertaining with a variety of guns used and more strategy involved. So competitive DM is more skill to me than competitive instagib.

It is great that they are there. 'nades are fun, pure and simple. Besides, it is fun to spend a whole map with them alone. Just testing your foot skills to get you close enough to roll one down thier throat. One nade kill is worth three rail kills anyways

Damn some good replies but the question was not answered!? I understand that the bodies can prove to be an advantage for the adept nade tosser as they add more chance for splash damage, but it is harder to focus on farther away enemies with bodies strewn about his feet.

Starting with R/G in hand would be a definate bonus. There are railers that will aim the railguns and just nail anyone who goes for it. This would level the playing field by giving the lesser skilled a chance at getting into the acksheen.

Nades are cool, but damn if there aren't some peepz who just run around spamming them. It's my guess that they get frustrated cuz they can't rail well or just having an off day so they resort to spamming.

And I agree that instagib does not take as much skill as full weapon DM but instagib is a good way to keep the rail skills sharp. When you are in instagib you need to be quick to stay alive and should carry over nicely to reg DM when you have someone chasing you down with the CG.

I'm not saying instagib is a bad mod, I actually drop by the server every now and then and play a couple maps here and there. It's good when you need to just get the feeling of railing back, and you don't need to think much so it's relaxing. But tdm is my mod, I feel so limited when playing rails, as I can't move as I do in tdm, meaning all the movement I do is just strafe back and forth and some forwards/backwards while ducking some to force the opponent to aim down. Usually I end up falling back on the bad habit of finding a crowd and just aim for the middle, or catch opponents off guard or newly spawned enemies looking for a gun. That doesn't really imrpove the aim, but it does give you a lot of frags

Share some of the views with bigtruck there, rail is good for working on railing quick and to get more confidence with the railgun. And confidence with any gun will really help you when playing. If you think you have the best rail around, you are sure to be a better railer. If you think you totally blow, chances are big you actually will do that. Using rails to sharpen the railgun isn't such a bad idea. And everyone is free to play what mod they want of course, but I don't look at instagib as such a highskill mod as some seems to think it is. Rail takes some aiming skills indeed given the right oponents,
