... don't have q2a... i'll see if r1q2 can use them.... think i could figure some way i could put them to use.
cornholio... need more info than that... you manually entered the alias in-game? upload your config dude, have to actually see it. and what client do you use?
alias testes "echo testes testes; say One... two..........three?"
so if you type this out in the console and hit enter and then type "testes" and hit enter... it doesn't do anything?

hehe... corn, dude... your understanding of the alias wasn't the question, i wanted to know if it actually works when you
physically
type that out exactly as written into your console (not your config). It should echo (in white letters) "testes testes" and then you should say "One... two... three?" If it doesn't work... i think your q2 program is messed up... if it does, then you're not entering the aliases correctly into your autoexec.cfg file. You have to be in-game (just type "map q2dm1" for instance) to test it out, btw.
also... to clarify... you're not writing these aliases into the config.cfg in your baseq2 folder are you? that could be why they are "self-deleting." i don't know why but the config file can only be a certain length and tends to cut off text after it is executed, i ran into that problem myself when i made my first zoom bind.
If that's the case, just copy your config.cfg and rename the copy autoexec.cfg, then add your aliases into it and see if it works (the autoexec.cfg should be in your baseq2 directory as well). Q2 will execute that first and will not alter the file. Hopefully... it's as simple as this!
Good luck

No thank you sir! Sounds like the movement is a little sticky and I don't really want to deal with automatic timers (not that i care if anyone else does)... i'm still hoping to segway into r1q2 when i get my comp working again..
Anyways, definitely make an autoexec because if you decide to do anything to your config you'll just lose it, the longer you write the more you lose. You're gonna need plenty of space if you start playing team more often

YOU CAN EDIT YOUR POSTS
Hmm....
I have always wondered if my 'shift' key was working properly as an alias to 'slowspeed'. While I hold it down, I should be walking, but I never really felt like I've been walking much. (still plenty footstep sounds). And I end up repeatedly hitting the forward key so as to make no sound.
I would bet that the Shift key has some problem to active trigger when held down.
---
I take it you are using the right-shift. Maybe there is a distinction between the two keyboard' shifts?
Also maybe the numpad lock has any impact on this? even though what you describe really points out that the problem lies in the Shift key.
---
Perhaps a solution could be that simply 'HITTING' the shift key would change the modifier. So you would need another key to set back modifier1 to 0.

Laurelin

Thanks Laur!
The problem seems to lie in the key as you said, and it doesn't matter which shift I use. I'm gonna definitely see if the numlock changes the situation, although it doesn't seem to for the other modifier keys. It's very strange that shift USED to work before.. (notice the "MEGAHEALTH SPAWNING!!!!" I spam in our demos).
Yeah I was thinking of making the shift a toggle key, so hit once and it toggles the modifier, and hit again and it toggles back to 0. This could get annoying if I hit it on accident though, because I'll start spamming rl_4 or rg_4 when I try to change my weapons.
In the meantime I've switched shift with ctrl. My control key is set to say "ATTACK (POSITION)!!!" and I rarely use it.
Thanks for taking the time to help, Laurelin.

I recently made this. (Makes it easy if I ever want to record a demo)
Not sure if this is the most efficient way, but it works for me
//demo
alias demo0 demo1
alias demo1 "stop; record dem1; alias demo0 demo2; echo ---Recording dem1.dm2---"
alias demo2 "stop; alias demo0 demo3; echo ---Stopped recording dem1.dm2---"
alias demo3 "stop; record dem2; alias demo0 demo4; echo ---Recording dem2.dm2---"
alias demo4 "stop; alias demo0 demo5; echo ---Stopped recording dem2.dm2---"
alias demo5 "stop; record dem3; alias demo0 demo6; echo ---Recording dem3.dm2---"
alias demo6 "stop; alias demo0 demo7; echo ---Stopped recording dem3.dm2---"
alias demo7 "stop; record dem4; alias demo0 demo8; echo ---Recording dem4.dm2---"
alias demo8 "stop; alias demo0 demo1; echo ---Stopped recording dem4.dm2---"
bind o demo0
