Here's a useful bind for viewing demos, it allows you to speed them up when you press the right arrow and slow them down with the left arrow:

I don't use any binds-just stock commands.  Also, I started out using the keyboard exclusively with DooM years ago and never made the switch to the mouse.  I've tried a few times and the movement is so foreign to my brain that I get motionsickness     One of these days I'm gonna just stick it out and make the change.....I bet it would improve my gameplay big time - especially the muti-level levels.

i have to agree... i just bound all my keys to other things and my 1 got used up and i've really actually wanted to switch to it!

Okay... not sure if this is the place but I'd like to keep people posting here... there are some interesting things that can be done with scripts (i'm catching a scripting bug)...

Anyways, here is a config file similar to one I just made for team dm called positions.cfg (some parts of this config are actually contained in other config files i've written, but I've added them here so you could actually use this "as is", I've also removed some code that is related to other functions).

Okay, thought I'd add something here for the script beginner's...

If this stuff makes no sense to you you can still try it out safely!   

All you need to do is copy and paste the code part of these posts into a text file and save it as ANYNAME.CFG in your baseq2 directory.  Then after you start quake you can type "exec ANYNAME.CFG" and the game will execute the code and you can try out the binds.  If you don't like them or can't get them to work you can just delete ANYNAME.CFG and move on with your q2 experience

For example, if you already have your right and left arrow keys bound to some action, you can still copy that demoplaying script posted above into a config file (let's call it... demoplay.cfg) and execute it in the console (by typing "exec demoplay.cfg").  This will temporarily bind your arrow keys for use in watching demos.  They will default back to your original setup if you restart Quake!

If you have any comments please post!  If you have any questions about getting these binds to work, please ask!  It's kind of neat when you get into it, and isn't as difficult as it seems...
