It was mere coincidence that Hitler spent 33% of the time in Mein Kampf bitching about jews and then 4 or 5 million of them disappeared. Fuck man, they probably just all took a walk in the woods and got lost and just decided to stay there and camp out. I bet if we go looking in the woods in Poland we'll find the grandchildren of 3 million or so Polish jews who just gave up trying to find their way back to civilization and said, "Oi vey! Fuck it! I guess we're living here now." They spent 40 years wandering the wilderness once, who's to say it couldn't happen twice, right?

Facts? Maybe. If his personal research found these facts, it would be really helpful if he'd indicate precise references for where they were found other than simply saying "data from the FBI". If you gonna argue against these BLM folks, it would be a HUGE help to be able to oppose their emotionally charged rhetoric with REAL facts that can be observed and leave no room for doubt or questionable interpretation. I'm kinda on his side in the whole BLM argument because I tend to be an objectivist and a realist, and because I am, it kinda makes me skeptical of him. I also notice how he ever-so-briefly skims the surface of the core complaint that the BLM crowd has, which is that too many cops aren't responsible enough and don't have the right temperment to be cops. If police want to change the public's perceptions of them, they MUST address that complaint with action.

Here are some articles I'd bookmarked recently (assuming they've indeed accurately summarized the studies they refer to.)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/apr/21/police-kill-more-whites-than-blacks-but-minority-d/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2016/04/27/this-study-found-race-matters-in-police-shootings-but-the-results-may-surprise-you/

I also notice how he ever-so-briefly skims the surface of the core complaint that the BLM crowd has, which is that too many cops aren't responsible enough and don't have the right temperment to be cops. If police want to change the public's perceptions of them, they MUST address that complaint with action.

Yep, some are going to be genuinely mean authoritarian sons of bitches. Others are going to be ostensibly well-intentioned but still resort to deadly force far too quickly. And my understanding is, in most precincts, officers receive only a handful of hours per year in ground survival tactics--a small fraction of the hours they receive in firearms training. Which, as Renner/Ryron Gracie suggest in some of their breakdowns, is a lack of training that is bound to make cops more panicky on the ground.

So yeah, it's a multi-faceted problem.

But the popular refrain of, "it's just cause cops hate black people" doesn't seem to be borne out by the data.

One thing that I think people tend to forget in this debate is the whole "cops are people too" angle, and it should never be forgotten for a good reason:

Under stress people do stupid things, and under high stress their body does stupid things without their control.

Police have a very stressful job, just like anyone who goes to work that day with the expectation they could be shot to death performing that job.

Lately I've been reading a lot of military documentary works and more general combat tactics and strategy books, and in my reading I came across a book called "On Combat" that is co-authored by a former police officer and a former active duty combat soldier in the us army which directly addresses the many physiological and psychological effects of armed combat itself and how it can affect police and soldiers (and warriors of all sort). It's quite a good read, barring some of the warrior cult stuff that doesnt sit well with some and a bit of soapboxing about media violence and it's effects, because it really breaks down the various physiological challenges present when people are under the stress of violent confrontation that police have to deal with as a part of their jobs.

They really put a lot of emphasis on proper training methods for police and soldiers to overcome these various issues that range from auditory exclusion and tunnel vision to memory loss and various ways of sensing the passage of time that can affect anyone (even badass full time soldiers) who is afraid or put in the stressful situation of being assaulted.

One of the main things I drew from it was that increased training on how to deal with an armed assailant doesn't stop at the physical techniques for subduing them, but it should include much more emphasis on stress management techniques and bodily control, along with training their minds for critical thought and flexibility under pressure.

Like we train men to shoot their gun by taking them to the firing range, we need to train the police officer or soldier to make better choices in the moment of action (under huge stress), to have more useful input available to their mind because their senses and their unconscious nervous impulses are not screwing with them to the same degree. There are programs for this kind of training even to the point of somewhat live fire paint-bullet training where they are forced to be shot and still do their job correctly under duress and pain.

If it does come down to a situation where killing someone with a gun is required they need to be able to control themselves to do so in a manner that is safer to the civilian population, and in one that makes them feel safer themselves: they need to be accurate, know where they are shooting and how many times, and be consciously assessing the situation instead of firing blind. If they are in control of the situation mentally a lot of the "I was afraid for my life" excuse for shooting people goes out the window.

This won't fix any of the racial angle of the problem, but it will make for better cops who serve the people better and who make less mistakes like killing unarmed people when it could have been avoided.

Yeah. I do more range practice with my handguns than probably most cops do per month. I want to be as perfect with my shots as I can possibly be in case that "oh shit" moment ever comes one day. I have all the confidence in the world that I can nail a vicious evil milk jug swinging on a string tied to a tree branch if one ever threatens me. But then again, I've been in places before where people were shooting at one another, so I kinda know what it's like when a real "oh shit" moment happens. And I can honestly say that some piddly fucking target practice, no matter how often, will NEVER adequately prepare me to participate in a shootout with anyone. You can think you'll be cool and collected at a time like that, but it's a different story when you hear loud deafening gunshots when you weren't expecting to.

I know that police in my county get together with FBI agents once or twice every summer for a cookout and some tactical exercises at the police departments outdoor range tucked away on the water depatments property. I watched them come screaming in in their black Suburbans and shooting at each other with fully automatic assault rifles loaded with pink and orange paint tip rounds. It was a trip, sounded like a fucking full scale war. And Burt Reynolds was there too, haha!

But from what I understand, MOST police departments DO NOT do things like that regularly. They SHOULD. But I guess not everyone has a 4 acre plot to build an outdoor range to do that kinda shit.

Or...

"If you aren't where people are shooting, you won't get shot."  -me.

I know, sounds crazy, right? But it's actually very true. I don't carry because I frequent places that are known to be dangerous. I avoid dangerous places. But nowhere is completely safe. Sometimes people from those dangerous places will come to you. And if that ever happens, however unlikely, I'd always rather have an option to defend myself. But the best defense of all is to never be certain places where there's an increased possibility of meeting an armed attacker. Nightclubs and titty bars in the shitty part of the city, drunken and crowded house parties, etc. Basically anywhere that alcohol is present, there is an increased chance of conflict occurring. A little forethought can do a lot more to protect you than having a gun will.

Amazing how rapidly a seemingly-routine traffic stop can turn bad.

Glad the cops had body cameras.

Eh, I dunno about "routine". It isn't exactly usual routine to have 3 or 4 officers present for a minor traffic violation. They also don't usually ask you to hand them the keys after turning the car off for just a routine stop. They obviously had a reason to be that cautious.

Stupid fucking people, man. Let's say they found the illegal gun. Let's say they found a kilo of heroin under the seat to. Let's also say he was violating parole or probation or had a warrant. Unless the warrant was for murdering 2 or 3 people in the 1st degree, he would've been better off accepting his fate. Chances are he had a warrant for something less than murder. The cops probably shot him deader than hell. Even if they only wounded him and he survived, shooting at cop is virtually GUARANTEED to land you in a max security prison for the rest of your god damned life. They don't parole cop shooters. Stupid fucking homeboys.

Convicted felon with a gun. Two time loser already. Under investigation for two rapes. 16 baggies of cocaine in his pocket.

Jury finds them in the clear? Phew, it's a good thing too. I was honestly worried that the cops fired upon him due to the color of his skin.

If you listen closely and watch the second body cam closely you will observe that the officer at the window with the driver was black. He was also most at risk and appears to have fired first. It wouldn't surprise me if he called for backup before approaching the vehicle and contacting the driver. He also says the reason for stopping him was because he "turned right in front of us". This would seem to indicate he had a partner in the car or another car was behind him.
