Best wep for the job

I just wanted to hear some opinions on what people would do when facing a certain wep, ill elaborate a bit.


Lets say you start a duel and this person it prone to rail and a much better shot with it than you, what would be the best wep to use vs that type of person etc. etc. etc. in other words which weps work best against other weps.

in descending order of effectiveness: ( best > good > ok)

RG/CG/SG against RG at long distance.
CG/SSG/SG against RG at medium distance.
CG/SSG/RL against RG close up.


..at least that's what I do.

some people will argue about using the SG, but I find it to be pretty darn accurate over distance due to the tight grouping. the reload/fire rate is faster than the SSG too.

You'll hit them every time with the SG, if your aim isn't shit, and the little slap they get from it will make it tough for them to line up a shot. just keep slappin em with it and dodging unpredictably if you dont have anything better to work with.

you'll notice that all of these but the RL is a hitscan wep. hint hint.

i really like SSG/chain battles.. with chain its best to keep your distance.. it is easier to keep your crosshair on him, and the SSG will do much less damage to you.  with SSG, it is completely opposite. you have to get in close, try to get a point blank shot in while trying to throw off your opponents aim with your movements/jumps.

Hmm I don't think so. You should play RA2. Best defense vs chaingun is two well placed rails. Railing up close isn't as hard as you think... well maybe for you.

I only mentioned the other guns because Armor's hypothetical situation included a line about his rail not being as spectacular as his opponent's...
When I play, I'm all rail, if I've got one.



Although, it should be taken into account that the CG has quite the negative effect on people's confidence due to it's horrendous spin-up-and-spray noise.. Moreso than any of the other weapons.

I'm not too proud to admit that it's just plain scary when someone, who knows their shit, is chaining you up-close.

yeah, best defense vs chain would be to hit two rails twice.

well in ra2 8 out of 10 times cg is going to win unless you land those rails... why I say that =)

I find using the SSG can trump most weapons except the RL if you are deft enough in your movements to get in close. I usually rush a player if I get into a firefight with them on even ground. That way you can close the gap and use the SSG's full blast more effectively.  (But look out, you may be called a dodge-bot )

Railgun:(1) All, especially ppl with Blasters
