From what I can gather the admins are actually above the law as long as they behave themselves. And if they overstep the mark or abuse their powers then the only recourse is to post here and accept all the shit that comes with posting in this forum

Santher again:

We used to have the 50% rule about map shortcuts now we just appear to have santher's rule.
This map started, santher has a look and decides he doesn't like a shortcut, disconnects and reconnects with his admin to block it.
No vote, no discussion, just blocks the sc and deletes ALL 15 times from the board.
Oh and incidentally I get silenced for querying it.

Is the admin allowed to use his powers in this fashion?

Just checked the l33tjump5 map. I don't really think the sc should have been blocked, it cuts about 10% of the map... Pity that the awesome Opkez's replay was deleted. But well, let santher explain why he did it.

Sorry for this map.
It will never hapen again.

But WP and crickey have blocked sc in that same place and in that same way. I just didn't know about 50% rule. I think that it should be modified, but i can't force my own rulez - you have right. So sorry for this.

If you guys think that i'm bad admin - please unadmin me, there will be no problem as i said some time ago: admin for me can be only temporary, for test.

What about the rule on deleted the times and editing the map? the sc's are suppose to take half the map away yet ive had atleast 5 1st places deleted because of a sc that was only like 10 seconds faster on a 100 second map

(Lohmaty). i think that is unfair and should be enforced.

I may be wrong, but I don't remember that we could ever agree on exactly what percentage of a map the shortcut should take away before being considered for removal.

My recollection is that when we first discussed the issue, it was more complicated than "half the map".

Consider, for example, the map ajm. It's a short map anyway... but it has a shortcut that cuts off like 85% of the map. However the shortcut isn't easy... I'd say a map like that, leave that shortcut in. Even though it cuts off "more than half the map".

In other maps (don't have an example in mind at the moment) you could have a large map with a shortcut that just cuts of 10% of the map at the end, but the shortcut is too easy that nobody would bother playing the last 10% of the map... If the shortcut is too easy, then I would say it is a candidate for removal even though it cuts off "less than half the map".

So I don't know where this "half the map" thing got started... Like Shakespeare said, there are more varieties of shortcuts on heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your "half the map" philosophy, Dork.

So..... If a blunt rule like "half the map" doesn't work... where does that leave us?

"Half the map"! It's the best rule we (admins who play there often) ever created. And know why? If there are a lot of players at a specified moment, and they keep arguing about blocking a sc, you just ask, 'Does it cut off more than 50% percents of the map?' And if it doesn't, the arguements vanish from sight, everybody thinks it's a RULE.

I'm not an admin anymore, but the maps' names, please? Never used to block 10-sec sc's on 100-sec maps.
