I just don't see how is all, lets say someone comes upon you with a gun drawn....you have a gun in your pocket...chances are, if the guy pulled the gun, he has the balls to use it...you go to pull gun...you end up dead

Use common sense? If you're obviously not in position to draw your gun then play along and wait for the chance... sure a 1on1 confrontation may not be the best situation but at least you have a slight chance of defending yourself when the opportunity opens.

For circumstances such as what happened yesterday, perhaps if one person in that Hall was equipped with a weapon and had been through proper weapon training the situation wouldn't of escalated as it did.

Fact is that this guy bought both of the guns used legally.

Whether a person is buying a gun legally or illegally it's in their hands to what they plan to do with them...

easier? Nothing would facilitate criminals getting their hands on guns more than taking the right away. That would not only make the illegal gun market WAY, WAAAYYY, bigger, it would also encourage and enable criminals to be more free. Taking the 2nd Amendment out is the same thing as adding a 28th (or whatever one we're at now) increasing the rights of criminals.

Your choice to trust anyone really... but I believe you need to have trust in a lot of people to live your life. Otherwise you may as well sit in a corner and die?

Not sure what you mean here? You think I believe in the right for American citizens to bare arms because of school shootings? Sure why not? Pretty much the idea of people with the intent to do harm with any kind of weapon in any situation is a reason to believe in the choice to protect yourself.

I agree with Armor in that you can never prevent these things from happening. There will always be psychos and the day to day world is an open place. What's to prevent me from going to the Mall/Food market/Walmart/Bar/Library or any public place and having a shoot- fish-in-a-barrel day? Nothing but my own decency and respect for human life. These type of mass incidents are relatively recent phenomenas because of the technology of guns these days. You can get semi-automatics and fire power to go through 2 people at the same time if you want. It used to be the single fire 22 pistol was all you got. Also TV/movies feeds ideas into their seething little brains. Now they can be much more effective. I read this morning he fired 3 shots into every victim to make sure.

i just think those who wish to cause harm are of the accurate understanding that they could do alot of damage before anyone was around to stop them, and then when help finally does arrive fifteen/thirty minutes later after the death of 10 to 50 people they can just end it all themselves.  Until those other guns show up, they have the ultimate control.  And that is what this always seems to be about.  Someone who feels powerless taking advantage of those around them for the selfish self fullfillment of the feeling they are looking for.  They feel they have no control, so they act out in such an over the top way.  If they knew it would be extremely short lived, i do think even the sick could make the more rational thought to not act out in that way.  At least not as often.  i think if they knew they could kill only one or two before dying very quickly, as opposed to killing many, and having some time to enjoy themselves, then even in thier sickness the rationality of it would shine clear enough for even the very delusional.  i think even the delusional still have a sense of self and security they try and answer to for themselves.

Didn't say I disagreed with the fact that you can't prevent people from flipping their lid and shooting people for no good reason however they can be stopped before more innocent people are killed.

I don't blame guns or media... I blame the person that was totally fucked in the head to do this to begin with and I also blame the campus for not having proper precautionary standards to deal with this type of situation.

Keene State in NH has campus police all over the place and these campus police have the option to be armed and from what I've seen they often take that option...

Not everyone with a gun plans to kill people with it for no reason. You cannot argue the fact that if there was another person capable of stopping this guy with another gun the outcome would of been much different.
