Even I think infinite ammo on the chaingun is Too Much.

Its why I wanted to see a server running the Superhero Mod.One of the custom characters was a guy in a wheelchair with mounted chainguns and infinite ammo,and a short duration force field for ramming speed attacks.This was counterbalenced by the inability to circle strafe and other movement hinderances from simulating a wheelchair.But an infinite chaingun in a regular game is just overbalanced.Ammo packs and bandoliers are enough of a power boost for it:300 and 250 bullets are enough to obliterate the most persistant drivel spammer >

The superhero mad2 is only 2 megs and the patch under 250 kb. A lot smaller than your average Mariacs map.

"mymap next" and "mymap random" were possibilities under consideration; I'll give the priority idea some thought...

Unfortunately, it's already being done. Certain players are requesting the same maps over and over and over... other players are getting fed up and leaving.

Now, I realize that other players could be 'fighting back' with their own map selections... but I don't really want mymap to become a burden on follks who want to just play thru the rotation.

I'm going to try coding in some safeguards... maybe mutant will still allow free-for-all requests, as I'm not seeing the abuse on mutant or railz so far... But I'm going to try some kind of time limit between requests of the same map on vanilla.

My current plan is to prevent repetition of a map on a per-IP basis. So if player A requests a map, player A can't request the same map again for some time. But player B could request it...

'Figured I'd try that since I've seen cases where someone requested a map, and another player had to download it and wanted to request it again since they barely got a chance to play it.

. . . . Er, . . . gotta code it tho -

why not make it so they cant vote for at least 1 map change? that would slow it down a bit i'd think.. give people time to get thier own map in

I've also noticed the trend of making infinite ammo for a map and camping at a teleport pad(as opposed to a spawnpoint with the initial protections up) and using the chaingun on every poor sod who uses it.The chaingun takes time to cycle up to full speed and not having the ammo run out makes it way too overpowered,like the hyperblaster.Perhaps dismantling Too Much Ammo is required as well. Having bandoliers and ammo packs is enough of a blessing.

unlimited chain also makes toxicmonkey disconnect

that's 2 bonuses!
