program needed (not q2 related)

anyone know of a program (thats a free Download) for editing home videos?

I have 3 videos that I'd like to take bits and pieces from and make one video out of...

I won't be able to check this post for a few days now but thank you in advance for any replies or suggestions.

Might get better responses if we know the format of your home videos, (i.e., VHS, DVD, DV, etc...), and what format you want your final video to be in, (i.e., DVD, AVI/Xvid/MP3, MP4/h264/AAC, etc...)

If your videos are in MPEG2, and you want to keep them MPEG2, then you could try Cuttermaran.

Otherwise you could import the video into VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod, make your edits and save in whatever VFW codec you want, or uncompressed if you have the HD space.

if you have windows then your OS should of came with a video editing tool called Windows Movie Maker, it's very nice for what it does

Everytime I try to fiddle around with Windows Movie Maker it seems to crash.
