Quiet Chain

I tried purri's pak once and he had this really awesome quiet chain gun sound.  It's a lot easier to chain and to dodge chain when you don't have that annoying buzzing in your ears.  I copied the quiet chain sounds from his pak into a new one.  I've been using it for a long time now.  Here it is.

So Quick n00b question here...

What "quiet sounds" are allowed and what are considered cheats? 

Like, is footsteps considered a cheat? or the rail gun hum? 

I'm very confused on this topic.

In my opinion, making shit quieter is not a cheat in anyway, it's making stuff louder, but even then I think only if it's ridiculously loud should it be considered a cheat, like my Mega Health sound screams "I'VE GOT THE POWER!", which is of course louder (and funnier) than the standard sound, but it's not a cheat is it?

Footsteps.. again, if a lot louder then there is an obvious advantage, but anyone with standard hearing should be able to hear them normally so to me I wouldn't care if someone used them.

well I ment my own sounds, not the opponents. 

my footsteps or my gun hum. so that I can hear other sounds easier.

I never thought of making other sounds louder..

I think the buzzing of the chain right in your headphones may cause hearing damage. 

Some modified sounds can be considered cheating, like a shotgun pickup that says what gun someone is picking up.  I don't think a less annoying chaingun sound qualifies.

I just was curious as to what modified sounds are cheats.  Because I really have no idea...

There is such a thing?  Does the shotgun trigger a unique weapon pick-up sound that I wasn't aware of?  I thought all weapons made the same sound when being picked up.

I don't know for sure, but I have heard that this type of cheat exists.

The fix is to play RA2. No need for picking up weapons...

  Kewl subject.  I just redid ALOT of my sounds.

I can't see how quieter would be cheating,  and the mega sound is heard from such a long
distance,  at least on edge,  that it doesnt matter how loud you make it.

I really liked the railgun hum I came up with,  kinda a musical erie beat.
Tore it out of a song and tweaked it.
