So What video card are you going to get or have?

Right now i have a gf4 ti4600 it runs all the current games out there but it kinda lags when its coming to running farcry and all the other games with all the pretty graphics turned on to fully enjoy the game.

i was looking at getting a 9800xt but ive been a loyal nvidia fan since the first 4mb agp enabled card they ever put out i still have that pos somewhere i think it was a riva 128
anyhow but since the new 800pro and 800xt cars are killing everything out there and the power consumption from the newer nvidia cards im not sure what im gonna get

my friend is lovvin his 800pro, especially after he modded it to an XT... claims he's all set for Doom 3, but we'll hafta see about that

I'm using an Albatron GeForce4 Ti4200, 128MB DDR, 4x AGP card with the latest 56.72 (though I've seen there's a newer 57.01 beta floating around? something like that).  Heh, just don't turn the quality way up on UT2k3 and UT2k4. (ouch!) :wink:

57.01?  heheh...a little behind the times, but not too much.  They are up to 61.40 now (betas, not WHQL).  60.85 is the latest WHQL release for XP.

I get good fps on h2 and q2 such as 60fps but on the bigger games i get 90fps but jk2 i get 30 cod pfft dont wanna say

heheh  wish my mommy would pay my power bill.  I'd even be a good son and call more often.  

And FR4GG, turn VSYNC OFF.  Better fps.  As I understand it, with Vsync On, you're limited to whatever your monitor's refresh rate is set to, which I believe you said is 85hz.  That sounds fine in theory, but the game bursts to higher fps in various places which could slow you down.

The downside of Vsync off is that some people might see "tearing" of video, but I've never seen it.

ive seen tearing when ive overclocked the video card too much. you start to get white artifacts. anyhow
looks like Nvidia is going the route of 3dfx back in the day they are now saying you can SLi the video cards. Remember back when the 3dfx voodoo2 in sli mode was like the god send of video card power! hehehe
so i guess something good is coming out of nvidia buying out 3dfx. Only thing tho is it probaby carries a big heft chunk of change to sli 2 6800xt gt ect ect.. considering one card is almost have a grand itself!
the only thing i dont like about the current 6800line up is that the power requirements are kinda high. I already have a 550watt Powersupply (ennermax .its a nice dark blueish color but still. the ati 800xt is looking pretty good each day. IM sure ati will not be outdone and will offer something simmilair soon.
