Would you like Quad damaged added to the center arena on Q2dm1?

q2dm1                          - standard, no quad, no bfg, no red armor
q2dm1-arenaquad         - quad in middle of arena, red armor under stairs in sg room
q2dm1-roofquad           - quad and bfg up on the "roof"

Put the quad under the stairs next to the chaingun and the red armour too then rename that section of the map 'BTF corner'.  Maybe even a powerscreen with 200 cells!

Well, just played it 3v3 and it certainly takes the 'edge' off of the megahealth room, more often than not it was the arena most populated.. especially with 10 or so seconds till quad, it's fun timing quad on edge, if anyone is in doubt about the placement, here are pictures.

...that has Quad damaged added to the center arena much like Quake 4's version of Q2dm1.

Err.. in Q4's original version the Quad is located in the new and elevated railgun area. (Since there's no water in the game Q4.) Somewhere in the water would be a better location for it imo (see attach.) This will make people think twice before charging the water with chain and going for Quad makes you vulnerable as it "should be".
Normally a Mega and YA won't beat 200 armor so adding the RA seems like a bad idea, it always becomes The Hotspot. Look at ztn3, you'll be stacked with armor if you can hang around for 40 seconds. Though maybe it's not as bad as it sounds and of course team games are different than 1vs1's.
I do think that the controlling-the-megaroom aspect is the strenght and weakness of dm1. The RA will balance things but, (not that I agree with it) I've always been under the impression that most people regard the maps that are slightly unbalanced on purpose as the best duel maps. I'm just thinking out loud here.

yeah, that placement would be interesting too.  Also cuz you can hear water entries/exits so far away.

I played for a few hours last night at one of the tourney servers with these modifications. I must admit it was very fun! It's really refreshing to play edge this way. It definitely takes alot of focus off of megahealth / rail area which is nice. It's very odd having people spawn at upper rocket and drop down into shotgun room to try and get ra  . The other players at the server seemed to enjoy it as well, except for shells .

I wouldn't really be interested in playing with quad at rail area personally. I think edge already has a bit too much focus on rail area at times. Alot of pickup games quickly turn into rail only whore fests. That's one reason why quad in arena with ra is so refreshing is because it takes focus off of rail area and megahealth room. I watched the 3vs3 match Adam was talking about. Heck it was a blast just to watch. But personally i was floored to not see the Quad being dropped. I'de very much like to see it dropped so who ever fraggs the Quad holder can get it as the're reward for taking the risk to frag them seeing how most players just run away from the Quad holder.

Hmm odd, while we were playing last night when the enemy was killed with quad it was dropping and allowing other people to pick it up. I'm honestly very happy quadz made these changes. Even if it's not played that often by people it really is a hell of alot of fun. I think the majority of the players who have tried it out have enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty interesting with Quad drop on
