TS-500 #3 Graphs of Results

I was thinking the same, but I couldn't put it into words.
 

I was wondering what utility was used to chart this graph..
is it some program that you stuff the demo/map through?

ID demo analyzer, I use it a lot just to keep track of demos (shows scores/name of players/message-log).

Great game, and I'm happy for the 12th. Map got pretty damn hectic in some areas as the graphs will show. Went rather fast as well. I just had too many deaths and I figured that I have trouble keeping my head straight for those longer hauls. I got a little discouraged at the amount of lag in the server that appeared to be affecting everybody.

I've attached a picture overlaying your routes with a top-down view of the map.  It was hard to get the perspective to line up exactly (unless q2 has a gl_ortho_view setting I didn't know about) ... but it came out pretty close...

I remember having rastor map underlays for the standard dm maps so the kill/death route map automatically had a good top-down reference. 

The tool is neat, I remember using it as intel against a player on q2dm3.. where I ran one of my competitor's demos through the tool to determine their routes.  Come to think of it, if you combined it with a "heat" value for field of view you could determine where your competitor normally doesn't look.  That would be uber sneaky.

For the top-down view of fusion, I just set gl_clear 1, and flew up above the map in noclip and took a screenshot.

The only snag was Defiant's nifty route graphic was a non-perspective 2D view, and the screenshot from noclip was a perspective view.  So when attempting to overlay the two graphics, they lined up fine near the center, but didn't line up at all well toward the edges of the map.  So it took some brute force hackery in photoshop to stretch the routes graphic in various vulgar, obscene, and immoral ways to try to get it to mostly line up with the perspective view.   

Might be interesting to hack in a 'gl_ortho' mode to the Q2 opengl renderer, so that one could instead take non-perspective screenshots.

I totally realize the method for creating such shots, and that will surely come in handy. I hadn't thought of using it like that before
However, it would still be nice to upload those already done so that everybody doesn't have to reinvent the wheel.

I had fun playing in the TS500 #3. Even though i didn't win, I am proud to have the most frags with the shotgun. maybe next time i'll do better.

very nice work with the map overlay Console!  I had bad lag and decided rather quickly that I would get frustrated and then have to get up for work in a couple hours.  So I left.
