Some how, when ever I try to connect to the server, or any servers for that matter, the console keeps just repeating the connect command. I am guessing I cant get in.

I've tried turning off firewalls too.
I just dont know why I cant get in to any q2 servers... If any one has seen or has the answer to this problem please let me know.

Assuming you mean TS servers only, be sure you are not trying to connect with your player name as "player", if that doesnt work PM console, you may be caught in a banned ip.

This is my first attempt at playing on spleen, is there any files I need to have inorder to get in?

Or maybe ... It's because we're not using the " AntiCheat Client ", as seen as U get booted.!!

I notice this message in the console on the lines of:- "Lethal_1 is not using AntiCheat V3.40" blah blah blah ...

Otherwise ... How do U go about checking or knowing wether or not your on the " Banned List ".?? - Who do U ask.?? - MODS.??

Also, I also realized I cant even get a response from the server, because I put it in the address book, and then when I refresh the address book I get nothing... the ip I am trying is " tastyspleen.net:27916 " is that right?

Hi, Lethal_1 and n00b_infinity,

Strange: I can't find any bans that overlap your IP addresses. So I'm not sure why you can't connect. (Anticheat isn't required, just encouraged.)

Please make sure of the following:

- your name is not set to "Player"
- your skin is set to something valid (try: male/grunt)

That has happened to me lately (say the last 6 months). It always happens when there are a lot of players connected and its at peak internet hours. Its like there's a very tiny bit of available bandwidth you're trying to catch in order to get in. I usually wait or just re-connect. Might take a while.....

I have a good mind to just log on, and then just stay on the console and watch for connection as I write my essay or something.

Maybe one day in 2020 I will get on... and... like... do the rj of joy...

If you can't get on ANY server, it sounds like you must have a firewall or something else blocking the UDP packets that Q2 uses. Make sure Q2 is on the allowed list of any firewall or anti virus or similar software, and try directly connecting your modem if you're using a router or similar.

can you explain abit about that UDP packet thingie?

I am for a fact I am not on router, my cable modem is at my feet right now

And I know for a fact my firewall is off when I play Q2

So I think that upd thingie might be the thing?

Anyways I played on the server today when I went to a cybercafe with Q2 and I loved it. Just hope I can always get on from home with my own settings so I dont have to place like bottom 3 all the time

Hi, just a note about the firewall business; I also had a problem with being unable to connect to the servers, and completely looked passed firewalls, because i'd 'closed' it, but little did I realise it was still running as a process.. once I allowed q2 unrestricted access everything was good and fine

Hmmmm....maybe you don't have the IPX protocol set up. What operating system are you using?
