This tourney is well organized thanks to Laurelin, server host, others I don't know, and refs. Thanks folks.

An idea for next tourney would be brackets:

Pro
Sport
Novice

And you can only enter one. Perhaps the groups are seeded based upon FFA or something.

The pro players deserve to take the gold, but it stinks for people knocked out in the first round. This would let relative newbies to compete at the right level. Better players would aim higher.

I agree to some extent.
My match I lost, but Shadow and I were a pretty good matchup.
It makes for a more competitive match instead of a 32- -3 slaughter.
Might not be technecally perfect, but a lot more entertaining.
Still it was just the luck of the draw that we were matched up.

Still, if you look at another 64 tournement, like the NCAA 64 team tourney...
They match the #1 seed with the #16 seed in each of the 4 brackets.

I don't think that would be good here, but that is the usual way it would be done.

The Idea is good.

However that requires more people if you want to have something respectable (32-p tourney). I personnally prefer One large tourney over a series of small ones. I'm also for the #1 Seed vs #64 seed in a 64-p tourney, afterall, A tourney should represent the best players advancing to the next round and not matches a la 'adren vs Naym' in the first round. Until finally you get the two best in the Final. That is why I dont like the Idea of regrouping same-skill players in 'One' tourney. For the current tourney, we had no 'ranking' so as to seed players properly - and though we added the "Skill" info in the signups, it is obviously too subjective to have any relevance. So we proceeded randomly.

Your suggestion would be a solution - however it is not as exciting as a Large Tourney imo, and requires more people to fill in the Brackets reasonnably (e.g. Getting 80% of the players in 'Novice' and a few in Expert, and some in Sports. Unbalanced distribution). Also - a Large tourney brings what I would call a Community Blending Factor.

You have 4 brackets of 16 players each.
The top 4 in every bracket get a bye in the first round.

i recommend a double elimination tournament next time, the problem of adren vs naymlis would not be so bad if adren could come back up from losers to take second place, single elimination really only determines who is the best, not who is second third or any of that

Well it can - but only when there is a proper seeding.

hmm, i never seen adrenaline do good in tdm or 1v1.. i have seen him do good in ra2 though, but that games 2ez even you can do good there
