1vs1 - Uber-Leet 180 flick air to air rail
« on: July 13, 2006, 11:59:34 PM »
this shot made my whole night

I had hoped watching it slowed down would show the shot better,
but it shoots out at too much of an angle to see it  :(

Why doesn't timescale work for me?  Can you, mid-demo, just type "timescale 0.1" and it should instantly slow down the demo?  I know I can speed it up mid-demo, but I haven't been able to get it to slow down.  I'm using the latest and greatest version of R1Q2.

alias +slow "timescale .1"
alias -slow "timescale 1"
bind * +slow

dunno, try that.  it similar if not exactly what im using
6557 of r1q2 though,

How it handles timescale has shifted a few times from version to version

I tried that, I tried it with Nocheat too (nocheat detects a speed hack and won't let me do it, haha), and no go with r1q2 either.  I think I could try quake2.exe but my textures are messed up then.

Are you sure that's the right way to make that alias Reflex?  I typed this exactly in my autoexec.cfg in baseq2 folder

alias +slow "timescale 0.1"
alias -slow "timescale 1.0"
bind n +slow

If that's not right, could you just make one real quick in a .txt file and upload it here?  I'd appreciate it.

I took what I typed and pasted it directly into my cfg when I posted it,  worked like a charm

tried it on other demos?

Just an update, I tried it on regular quake2.exe, and when I hit 'n' (the key which I bound +slow to), it brings up the options menu like I hit Esc or something.  I presume when you typed "bind * +slow"  you didn't literrally mean the * key, but any key I wanted to use.  This is annoying not being able to get this to work.

Not sure if it will help, but I've never been able to use lower timescale with any noticable effect unless I switch to software mode. The higher resolution in software mode, the slower I can view the demo in for instance timescale .1

So, if you use r1q2, try switching to software mode, and then type /timescale .1

BTW, awesome frag ref  :ubershock:

Shadow,  thnx for the effort,  but thats about the same view I could get.
Im not so worried about it anymore,  the out of view shot is some of
the charm of playing near 200 ping.

Deal,  Some older builds of R1Q2 would even let the timescale work when added to demos.
Created a matrix-like effect that I really liked,  doesnt work anymore though.

and thnx to you n Art for the compliments,  thats really why I post demos
I'm an attention whore  :D

Adam,  your're all wrong..  purri is using SHADOW'S bright skins :)

Adam:

Well after all Adam I told you where to get Dimmos Hud! I forget where I got my high res textures but they are good ones and yes Purri's brightskin weapons or whoever made them I just put them on one day and havent messed with it anymore (I was putting together a PAK) I guess it's coincidence.

Whoever It May Concern:

Yeah different clients seem to have different timescales, I know R1Q2 b5510 is slower.
