oh god don't get me started on IT difficulties.
I'm constantly amazed by the idiots I work with and their unfailing capacity to destroy a perfectly good computer network.
If it wouldn't annoy me so much, no one would be able to pass anything into our network from the internet thru our firewall.
I spend hours every week, removing a bunch of malware and spyware crap, because some sales women have to know exactly what temperature it is at their house while they are at work, or they can't be bothered to open a browser to search for a web page.

For such incredibly technologically-incapable people, you'd be surprised how many random ass programs they can install and run simultaneously in their taskbar.

I have to go take a long smoke break every once in a while, when I notice that the T1 is running at dial-up speed, because 15 assholes can't seem to understand that AIM and MSN messenger and bittorrent lag the shit out of everyone else when they leave 3 different messaging/P2P programs open at once on 15 different comps, running thru one connection to the net.

good luck with your problems wiggy.

Why don't you implement a software restriction policy with a GPO then? or use filters to disable IM and P2P traffic?

Wow don't you make it sound easy! Sorry but to an extent IM/P2P traffic is necessary in a office enviorment. This is how people comunicate within the office very often (cheapest solution for the buisness as well). As for users downloading large files using up the bandwidth sometimes that can be hard to track down. Depending on the size of the company of course. Larger companies can afford software to track down who is causing these problems (it is not a cheap solution). Otherwise a walk around looking at monitors when you're a small company is easy enough.

??? You can see who is doing what with ethereal, and further monitor traffic and limit network use with snort.. just to name two simple utilities.

Both freely available..

I can easily and remotely check up on peeps and do whatever on their comp using VNC and other progs, but it's a waste of time. I don't have time to babysit them and scan network traffic for errant packets and huge bandwidth usage, then go slap people on the hand...

There is a big difference between incompetence and indifference.
I know exactly how to stop our people from doing anything on their comps, but then they wouldn't be able to
communicate with each other, and they'd bitch and whine at me all day because their computer keeps telling them
they're not allowed to do this or access this, or this fucking program doesn't work anymore.. whine whine.. bitch bitch.
I only care about their crap when I have to fix it, or my ping is getting too high to play q2 on my work comp, so I
make sure their stuff just runs and I ignore the software they aren't supposed to be using, unless it's causing me problems.

It's much easier to slap a big fat bottleneck on their activities and uninstall all of their software, than it is to explain why you have to, to a bunch of techno-retards. I'd rather not have to do either of these.

Made me laugh my ass off - I hope you get a job that is less annoying - you should be a comic or author - my face hurts . . .

Haha glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I worked at the place about 3 years ago while I was in college. I have a pretty decent job now and I don't have to deal with retail bullshit ever again.

The world is filled with stupid people. Therefore, to better aid your identification skills, I listed a few examples of stupidity you may come across in your day-to-day life.

MORON DRIVERS ON CELL PHONES

You know the type. They pull right in front of you when you are driving, causing you to slam on your brakes, swerve recklessly, and then switch lanes. When you drive past them

I work in a major holiday resort (Center Parcs www.centerparcs.com ) and the place is aimed as being a place for children. Every goddamn customer is pushing a fucking pram or has irritating little undisciplined kids running around. They are FUCKING annoying as hell. I walk around the place and I'll have to walk slownly behind fucking retards with their gaddamn kids who take up the whole goddamn walk way, and walk as slowly as physically possible, and won't notice how everyones tryna get past them. That also goes for old fuckers. I'm in bar and restaurant and damn do people irritate me. They'll leave a mess on the tables, a mess that hell is made of. They'll allow their kids to throw food everywhere, on the floor, the tables. The bastards will order food or drinks and, upon taking the food/drinks to them, you'll find out that they changed their mind or simply don't want to pay for it afterwards because it 'wasn't what they were looking for'. Some customers will walk in to the restaurant asking if we serve drinks, meanwhile you couldn't mistake us for being a restaurant and we got the biggest fucking cocktail bar ever seen on planet earth, right by the entrance. Then some customers complain about the loud music, meanwhile we are a fucking music bar and restaurant with fucking Jimmy Hendrix shit all over the walls and other music stuff all over the place you could see from a mile away, so obviously we play music loud - we're like a Hard Rock Cafe damnit. Luckily I'm good with customers from years of dealing with them, so I keep my cool.

I worked in retail a while back. It's not THAT bad. And I was working 16 hours a day. Then again I got back at irritating customers by over charging them  :yessign:

If you were attached to reality, you'd realize that.

Quake 2 needs a private bathroom.

It's a shame that Focalor is never treated with the same measure that Beaver deserves especially given how detached from reality and evil they both are.
