Why are we debating the Quad to this extent I ask you???
Because by nature, we Q2 players are a competitive bunch and we want to win and we want to have fun doing it.

So, since we are SOoooo competitive, I propose a challenge. A Tourney of sorts.
Since Vanilla 2 has no takers, how about we ask Quads for a DM-pu server. You can even put dm7MOD in it.
We can have our DM with Quad and stock dm7 and NO mymap.
Then put the two servers side by side for one month and see which has the most takers.

If DM-pu wins- the DM-pu server comes down and the DM server will be changed to the alternating pu settings, 1 second Spawn Protect, and to up the anti, dm7MOD can alternate with it. All Forum threads concerning the issue will be moved to the Entropy Pool and discussed no further.

If DM wins- the DM-pu server comes down and the DM server will retain all Stock settings as follows: +pu, no spawn protect, stock dm7, and no mymap anything.

I like the idea.

One caution, whichever server gets the original DM ip may naturally see more traffic.

PS: Def jokingly offers 3rd world add-clickers, gladiator bots, and pigpen who is always on (fragging or eating sandwitches) to a morally corrupt $0.0001 pay per frag scheme on the obviously far superior Quad enabled server.

this idea will not work
the old dm server will win regardless, just like what happened to vanilla 2

once you have set this in stone, they will not leave without force

(IE: route some clients to the new server, or simply close it down)

I think this will have the same effect as the average poll here and in the end it doesn't get us anywhere. This whole deal is about preference and the discussion will start over again once it's been decided to take one of those two dm servers down.
I'm sure you mean well but didn't the admin already just decided to go with the +pu/-pu cycling? Why are you not happy with 50-50? You see if people have to choose between two dm servers they will go where most players are, where their favorite opponents are or where their buddies are. I don't think anyone is going to be sitting in an empty server just to lure players and stand their ground while they could actually be playing on the other. Thumbs up for taking the time to actually come up with ideas and stuff but I really think that the smartest thing right now would be to let people get used to the current settings.

I think it's funny that he proposes that if the -pu server wins, in other words suggesting more people prefer playing without quad, the result would be the current alternating pu setting or 50/50% +pu/-pu, yet if +pu wins, the server is 100% +pu. How is that a fair conclusion heh? A little biased are we? =P

Anyway, I think the current setup is the best compromise. You cannot please all the people all the time, but you can please some of the people all the time, and the alternating +pu/-pu cycles is the best way to do that.

Hahaha. But I have to weigh it against configuring a new server, adding it to 'goto', setting up the admin port, adding it to the servers status page, adding it to #tastyspleen-live, .... etc...
