Often I find on space that while I am floating slowly I am railed by someone, and I can't move to stop it. >_<

Also, yes base3 is very good in my opinion

Console, those files that are posted are really no good?  Can they be modified?

Unfortunately the source code doesn't seem to be available for vanctf. 

Last time we tried it (the linux binary) it crashed immediately.  We have a different server version now, compiled for old system libraries that may match the old vanctf binary.  So I can give it another shot.

BTW, yes I'm a programmer, 'bout 23 years now.  Did video games professionally from '89 to '98... Rewriting the vanctf mod from scratch as you suggest is not, indeed, all that technically challenging.  But it still takes time...!!!  What you need is a programmer with spare time.

^I don't know anything about programming, but is there anything that I can do to help?  Of course it would be better to make some changes to it to improve it, specifically:

-Use only certain sp and dm maps simply b/c not all of them translate well into CTF
-Use a grappling hook that's separate from the other weapons so that you don't have to stop, switch weapons, and THEN fire it
-Since you need version 3.20 to play and that version has 3wave ctf in it, the flag and hook models from that can be used without users having to download anything.  That way it will make it look more like CTF

Unfortunately, unless the source code can be found for vanctf, there's no practical way to make any changes  to the mod.  (But we could probably change the maplist it runs though.)

Okay PQ was no help, no one answered me. 

I guess if no one here is interested in helping out, I'll just have to program this myself.  Since I know nothing about programming anything can someone give me a push in the right direction?  I assume all I have to do is edit the sp maps?  So I gotta get Worldcraft or something?

Hi, it turns out vanctf can do ALL the things you were asking for:

  - run a specific list of maps
  - offhand hook
  - use the 3wave flag models & textures

I tried to get vanctf working again last weekend.  We actually had it running, and it seemed stable.  However, it would not change maps.  It would get stuck at the end of the map showing the credits.  From the server logs, it looked like it might be a weird incompatibility between vanctf and r1q2 server.  I tried to troubleshoot it a bit, but was not able to solve it.  I have a couple more troubleshooting ideas, but I ran out of time.

Regarding your question above, can you say a bit more about what you want to accomplish?  I'm not sure why you mentioned editing the single player maps.

So you got it running?  What can I do to help?  Do you want me to go through the maps and pick out the ones that would work for CTF?  I think I can remember which they were.

Well as I mentioned, there was a problem with vanctf not being able to properly change to the next map.  That will need to be solved...
