I'm a gamer, visited I'd Software, played in and competed in LANs, organized LAN gaming parties, etc.

I have a QCon BYOC spot, but won't be able to make it

Instead, I'm putting my time into organizing a TastySpleen LAN in 2007.

Just meeting some of you, having a party, having some tournies for a couple days would be awsome.

so, I'm not bummed I'm not going: instead I've got a better party in the works.

PS I don't know the rules, but maybe I could give my BYOC spot to someone instead of just cancelling it tonight.

I was unable to make it this year, either. I gave up my BYOC spot last night.

They won't let you give it to someone else directly. Here's the info:

Alright, morning of friday here, figured I would recap yesterdays events. I met the random dude who needed a room, who turned out to be the creator of PaintBall Q2. Awesome coder... you should see his water shader. We stayed in line from about 12:30 at night on until reg opened at 10 am. We were thinking not a lot of people were showing up... until about 8. The line overflooded into multiple other rooms. We just stayed up front, chillin with a bunch of sweet people, even if they are CS players

We get in smoothly, and the first thing I notice is the ET:QW booth. I nearly wet myself. Q4 laptops were set up all over, along with nvidias, intels, and ageas booths. I have some time to blow before I can pick up my monitor rental, so I get fragged on the pickup q4 games... and play etqw. I don't have to say how awesome of an experience that was...

Anyways. I ended up meeting up with DeathStalker and Fanny, and R1CH briefly... I'm trying to find him again. I also met Kedrhin from the Q1 community, who was kind enough to show me around Quake 10 Year on his SLI system. Rich bastard....

I walked right past John Carmack without even noticing, and finally worked up the nerve to shake the guys hand. That time I think I did wet myself. I spent the night going to a conference starring Kevin Cloud and Paul Wedgwood. Afterwards I tracked them down at the bar and had a lengthy discussion on texture compression layering... that was thourougly enjoyable. Really great guys.

Anyways, Day 2 arrives, and it's time to get hopped up on Bawls and start some fraggins!

My very own AUTOGRAPHED COPY OF QUAKE III !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next year i'm bringing my Original Q2cd in it's original case w/manual and get all the id guys to autographs.

Man, this is so amazing. Being someplace where you can start talking to any random joe and... keep talking for an hour is someplace I want to be. I just met HappyFriar and spent the last 3 hours in discussion of... quake. I could cry from the beauty of it all. Or it could be the sleep deprevation.

Q2 servers here are up at times, and always fun. Lotta people here just doin sp stuff or porn... which should be sp. Then again, the rest are all talented, involved, and... kin.

Free stuph abounds, and I'm making out like a pirate on the tshirts. No hardware yet.

Duffy let slip in a Q&A that ET:QW WILL HAVE BOTS. I wish yall could have been there when he said that... got quiet for a while, then Todd gave him this huge glare when everyone else started murmoring and chuckling. He's getting the cane tonight.

I need caffiene, but bawls is in limited supply. I'll drink anything anyone will shove at me at this point. The water here is horrid. Tomorrow I wrap up my round of photo ops and autographs. Speaking with the iD, Splash Damage, and community people is just so awesome.
