BTW, If you are even thinking of going, I recommed you sign up right when registration opens.  Those BYOC slots fill up fast.

Ugh, cold brutal reality smacked me hard on the head last night.

i have been waiting for quakecon to release the dates all year.  i was SO excited.  i was expecting it to be at the end of August.  It just hit me that i need to be in FL on August 5th. :/ 

So i can NOT make it to quakecon this year.

im so bummed.

Yeah, the short notice really killed me as well.. cause I can't raise $225 to get down th Dallas, TX in the next 2 weeks..

I suppose maybe next year..

for those proclaiming they want to go, or are proclaiming that they are going, and are traveling great distances, I say this.

before you commit, talk to people who went and did travel to Qcon, like last year. (get on IRC and ask quadz)

I used to go regularly, but it was never more than an hours drive for me.  It's fun, but it might be somewhat of a letdown for
the unprepared.  It all depends on what you are expecting.

I understand for all the folks that CAN'T go.
But I really thought there would be a much bigger turn out of people posting that they're going.
For all the people than CAN go and have claimed they want to help expand a dwindling community, here's our chance to get down there and really promote Q2 and Tastyspleen.

i have really been thinking about quakecon all year.  Just waiting for a date.  Then it comes and happens to land on a MIGHTY inconvenient date for me. :/  With more planning(more time ahead of time) i would not let this happen.

i'd love to commit to a summer/august/quakecon 2007. or whatever.

i do hope a bunch of you can make it and make a good showing.  Take lots of pictures, and let me live vicariously through you on irc while you are there.

The only inconvienience i can imagine is the prohibition while at the computer on the LAN.  i'm used to drinking LOTS of beer while sitting at the computer.
