Well it seems we are running thin on capacity to service 24 TP servers so here are my thoughts on deleting a few and hopefully improving our gameplay and minimizing quake brownouts. I've attached a screenshot in groups:

The first five are well-attended and should remain.

The next 3 (xatrix, pygmy, sheridan) tend to be populated in the evenings by a small bunch of regulars anxious to get away from the regular server chaos. I think the city1 map could be added to Pygmy, delete Sheridan, and accomplish the same thing.

The next 3 (goatass, wod, xquake) I rarely see people on. Whats the status here?

The next 5 are all the Tourney servers are all used. All 5 remain I guess.

The next 3 Euro servers keep the game alive for players overseas and give us an opportunity to play against them.

The last 5 I've never seen anybody on nor do I know people who go to them. Some or all could be terminated.

You probably already know, but, the euro servers are not on the TS box, (obviously), and either 4 or 5 of those listed, are on gators box, and any time i've asked quadz about changing idle servers, he tells me they take barely any resource!

Right...

There are 19 running on tastyspleen.net.
There are 2 running on east.tastyspleen.net. (thanks majik !)
There are several running on gator's systems. (thanks gator !)
There are 3 running on the euro server. (thanks... fatty, I think !)

Anyway. Idle servers hardly take any resources at all. All that matters are the busy ones.

But... I keep pretty close tabs on the tastyspleen.net CPU. It's not even close to capacity this morning. (Heaviest usage is often Sunday nights.)

So I'm not sure which brownouts you're referring to? Usually that will be some sort of network problem, some router near the server perhaps. I played this morning (from southern calif, pretty far from TX) and my connection was totally clean and lag-free. But I saw Adam's ultra-packetloss-lag screenshot.

i see atleats one or 2 tourney servers populated on a regular basis
they are great for team and 1v1 at anytime

there are as importent as mutant and railz

i run servers at 68.56.123.221

ports are CURRENTLY set up as follows:

27910:Gladiator Bots
27920:Q2dm1Mods
27930:BasketBall
27940:Gumby's Graveyard
27950:Wallhackers
27960:BTF TDM

20, 40, and 50 are connected to TS by the goto system, 30 is just one step ouside, and 10 and 60 are totally seperate.

These servers get very little use. They are run from my home in Florida, so alot of people tend to ping about 100 there. Hence the lack of population on them i suppose.

However, i think they run stable without much packetloss as far as i know.

I'm willing to run OSP Tourney configs and maplists that people create, i can add them to a vote based system to get to them. If you'd like something set up, contact me, in irc would be best, or pm. i do not have MORE ports to offer, im maxed out with other game servers running on the box. But if you have a need and will use it, feel free to contact me. But if you only play on servers you ping 25 on, it ain't gonna work out for ya....

console has said that the servers are still in good health for the time being
though deleting those inactive servers will add up and help if only a bit

We could just always move the box to a Amd Quad Core with 8gb Ram with 4 15k rpm scsi drives in raid 0 and another 4 for redundancy. Move the pipe to a gibabit switch. Give the quake server processes higher priority....

Of course that would cost a few hundred a month to co-host. So whos gonna donate?
