they aren't the shit.

I used to listen to a bit of Tool, and I don't really think they suck.
They just don't always put out quality albums.
Some of their stuff was quite cool at the time.

I had "Aenima". and I was sorry that I wasted my money on it.
I thought "Undertow" was much better and it wasn't adorned with a
black and white pic of a dude sucking his own wang. Nothing says
"this is a totally wacked-out album" quite as well as that... lmfao!

yea undertow is great....its raw and metallic...but aenima is on another level with its lyrics...."third eye" is often over looked b/c its like 15 minutes long, but damn, that shit still blows my mind

tool is to metal as green day is to punk.

listen to something that will open your mind rather than keeping it so dull and narrow.

well I'd have to agree with krez.
Judas Priest is way way way better than tool, on so many levels.
Halford might be the queerest thing to walk on 2 legs, but his vocals alone
make Priest about 100 times better than Tool.
Listen to "Screaming for Vengeance" and try to imagine Tool covering it.
It just wouldn't work.

Screams like that are the foundation that good metal is built on.

Megadeath is also quite a good band. Saw them play last year in Irvine...
what a great show.

I really think Iced Earth is one of the best new metal bands that I've heard.
I don't like the new vocalist at all, but the band still rocks.
I'm partial to Blind Guardian, Manowar, and Black Label Society too.

Look I could care less if someone likes Tool. The issue with me is when some moron like n0c. (and practically every other tool fan around) claims they are so much more talented than any other band. You like Tool? Fine, but how about you let us have OUR opinion instead of throwing that "we dont get it" bs at us. I know you didn't personally say that, but I see and hear that said by Tool fans constantly. Like they are just so amazingly talented I just can't fathom their talent and creativity. Give me a break. Selling records means nothing with idiots like you guys out there (referring to anyone who said tool is good on this thread). It's all about an image. To me Tool is a great band. You don't have to like nor agree with my opinion. Tool fans think they are a great band because the music Tool creates appeals to them highly. Apprently it does not appeal to you. So of course you are not going to think the are 'amazing' or 'unique'. Though I do not agree with your opinion, I will however fight to the death for your right to have it!
