So now you can't even vote for Match1 !? Hmmmm.... why !? 
Seriously, i'm sure that noone knows in here about "playgound.ru" it's a russian Q2 server, i would never left it, but high ping made me.   Here are some things that their DM has and TS doesnt':
  1) When you are viewing statistics during the game it's just listed, NO pictures. It's not distracting you from the game.
  2) They have death count. What good is that you might be wondering, here's an answer to that: When 2 players have the same amount of frangs, who is on the top !? the one who has less deathes. 
  3) Right next to the frag count, there's a counter that defines by how many frags are you off from the leader. I concider it usefull.
  4) Voting menu is a lot better, meaning: players actualy vote, and decision is made by the persantage of "yes" and "no", not because some one typed in "mymap". You can vote for any available map for DM.
  5) Map selection is better, maps ARE BETTER.  For DM offcourse. They are not huge and they are very exciting.
  Also they have a team play, no, not CTF. Just team play. It's awsome.
  6) You can vote by pressing a "tab" button, it's added to that menu. So you don't have to know commands, you can vote through a menu.
 
It really is a lot better that way, you not getting sick 'cause of the same 5 maps. Yeah yeah, i've been told goto vanilla. But, maps are 2 huge on that server, on railz you have no weapon selection, every server has it's minuses. I'm a DM & TP fan.
If maybe you wanna take a second of your time and actualy see it w/ your own eyes, here is the address of DM:

   Maybe something will be added to TS. Seriously, Console, why can't you make a  voting topic for DM people !? Give people a chance to say if they still wanna play on the same maps, or they want an upgrade. There are lot's of things that can be updated, but it looks like it's just getting worse. From 40 frags to 30, than back, now there is no "Match1". What next !? player limit 8 !? no chat during the game !?
  The only thing that keeps this server alive is that it's the only server that people know about  . I know people who are looking for different servers, i know people who were saying "yes" to "It sux".  I already know what you are gonna say most probably, but it def. worth a try.

That sounds exactly like OSP Tourney. I think I've once asked Console for some of those changes you mentioned but I believe it had something to do with the way Wallfly[BZZZ] is set up. OSP is not an open source mod so if they'd run OSP they'd loose the whole 'goto' feature (I think?).
But yeah I think at least on DM we should be able to have some more control over the maps and other settings. I for one would prefer just to have OSP over the current TS mod when it comes to the DM server. Not in the least because of the first person chasecam (hmm I thought Wheet was working on that?). You ever played on Fuster's UK DM server (62.44.69.98)? They also run OSP and it has all the options you listed. Don't know how you'll ping there.

1.  I generally look at stats at the end of the game,  when it comes up automaticly.
    the pictures arent that big of a distaction, since there is no game going on at the time.

2.  Only the stats at the end of the game really matter,  and its VERY rare for 2 people to 
    hit the fraglimit at the same time.

3.  I've seen this on some of the servers,  dunno wich ones.  but one has it at least.
    but again,  it doesnt really matter.  I try the same,  no matter how far behind I am,
    or if I happen to be the leader.

4.   Dont be hat'n on mymap!!  So there is no veto power against it,  it lets EVERYONE have
     a chance to play a map they like.  There are enough safeguards in place to keep players
     from abusining it,  like playing the same map over n over,  or using unbalanced settings
     too often.

5.   Seems like the beef here was the ffa DM server,  into teamplay?  there are like half a
     dozen teamplay servers.  I might add, you can vote maps on those servers. 

6.   hmm,   the teamplay servers have the vote commands in the tab menu as well...


just sounds like you found the wrong server/mod to play !


maybe not,  but it seems like a complete overhaul to get tasty dm like that.
It also shies away from what the dm server was meant to be,

I know of the playground servers,  only ever did the teamplay.
Seemed just like the tourney servers.

You still can mymap match1.  You probably tried it while our script server was down for hard drive repair.  GOTO and MYMAP were offline for a couple days earlier this week.

I never much cared for traditional map voting on FFA servers.  Just personal preference, I guess.  With traditional voting, it seemed people are always calling votes in the middle of a game, and saying, "vote, dammit!"  "vote plz!" etc., which I find kind of distracting and annoying.

The DM server was specifically created for people who requested a stock deathmatch server running idsoftware's dm1-8 maps.  We have other servers that allow a greater selection of maps.

Have you tried GOTO MUTANT?

We have discussed the DM server several times here on the forums.  The current settings are a result of those discussions.  (Except the fraglimit, I can't remember if 40 vs. 30 was discussed.)

If you would like to not chat during the game, we do have a "global mute" feature. Just kidding.

Console i was thinking.. could you make another forum in the jump huahuahuah section called maps. people could post wich maps they like, and post wich jump maps should be fixed or deleted
