i don't know if all you are watching the 1v1 tdm thread, but granny has actually made me smile. It just got me thinking, he is starting to become infamous, almost
ni-ux'ish. So in that respect, i decided to go a bit back and forth with him and am waiting on his response but i would like to have a vote, i am not doing the dumb poll thingy because those never seem to work. so once again in order who are you top 5 most hated people in the q2 community?

my list:
1. ni-ux - no body gets me more heated. When he goes off i forget that it is just a game and i can't crush his skull through the monitor. j/k sorta.
2. Silent Death - me and SD had a 4 year long rivalry and now we have cooled off, but it only takes 1 or 2 games to get us into rival mode.
3. Krez - not cause of his cheating antics or even his server admining, but cause he was SD's butt buddy and has never had anything nice to say to me.
4. Manip - see 3 and then see 2
5. Jeet - Jeet a long time ago was in my clan, but then got some skills and has never been the same since, in ic-na he was a whiney loser, and since then he hasn't been fun to play. What a waste.

I had to defiently reach on this one, all in all i got really no problems with anyone but some sure are more of a pain than others. Besides good ol nick2 i really couldn't think of anyone else. B100d gets an honorable mention, he can get me going if he tries hard. Although i still respect all these players in some form, cept nick2 who still and always will be a newb in my eyes.

o don't get me wrong i don't hate these guys (for real), i find it halirious what they say and i get so amused by it. Shit q2 drama is my soap opera, some ppl like watching wrestling, i like watching b100d call kickr0 a newb. then watch em get it on and the shit fest afterwards now thats what makes my q2 day.

Not for me. To me, q2players was great for demos and daelmun posts; however, the rest of the commentary was pathetic. I believe many others don't want the same interaction here.

To put it another way, talking s*** is fine if you know who you are talking to and know how they take it. That's the line that when crossed, makes people leave.

def, to get demos and games of high quality you will need to stir things up a bit and the best games come from 2 guys with bad blood battling it out to prove something. You will see some truly amazing things in those games, i think dael mentioned this already before tho.

And yea guys I think stevo means when he says hates is players that make the game most unpleasent wile on a server or in chat or just seems to piss ya off in game . There is to many for me to list so I wont bother but I will list the things that do piss me off :p

ffa weapon and pad campers , racists , and newbs calling good players noobs cause they win in ffa and cant back shit up in duel .

TDM , Great players that have no respect for other people and base all their e-ego on how bad they can rape someone with lesser game abilities .

Team lockers , people who duel when the server is full enough to play teams , or people that insist on 2v2 or 3v3 when there is enough to play 4v4 .

Ill go the next step luci aka stevo and list the people I like playing the most and feel I get the most out of my games when i do play , even if I do get raped .

Here is the column I wrote about it on q2players btw:

I just browsed through the demo section on challenge-tv, and watched some fun duels where two players were at eachothers back the whole game through. Namecalling, cheat accusations, and the cheering spectator. It was all there.

Guess it's time to face it: I miss the good old days.

The problem is that the good old days that I'm referring to weren't that long ago actually. The q2 scene here in NA has been diminishing gradually the last couple years, but there always seemed to be people around on the tdm/gx/tourney servers batteling it out. It's not only that people don't play anymore, the thing that is more depressing is that there are so few left of the good old q2dm1 duels between rival players. Of course people still play 1v1 on q2dm1, but mostly just friendly games because the server has too few players to play teams. That's mainly the reason i miss the good old days.

There is one thing I'll admit, and people probably realize it by now: I've always loved the heated duels where egos were on the line. It's always more intersting to watch such games where the players don't just play just to play, it's way more fun when either it being a tourney game or what is more common: where two players are gonna prove something. A bit shittalking to set it up, either in form of some stacked teamplay games where two players started acting it up, or some comments thrown at the other guy from the sidelines in a duel. Or just two people hating eachother relentlessly. And it always ended up with two guys making their own team and locking it, forcing everyone present at the server to spectate them. If there were 12 eager-to-play players present or 3 afk players didn't matter at all, they were ignored or were there to be witness of the owning. As a matter of fact, the more players present the better, as that way the loser would be exposed to as many as possible.

Cause that was half the fun, the talking in messagemode2 where other players told their stories about who has a cheating past or who is owning or how bad they beat either of the players last night with keyboard only. How they could be 100% sure this and that player cheated, even backing it up with proof such as "he is watching him through the wall now" and "how could he tell he was there! he was walking. It's so obvious he is walling" etc. And then there were the comments "I beat xxx 14-0 the other day. Want the demo? I can send it on IRC or AIM after. As a matter of fact i'll upload it so you all can see". And "omg, I can't believe xxx is losing, he used to own back in the days" and "wtf, he used to suck just a week ago, now he is owning" or something like that. It's like free commentating where you learn a bit about the players, and hear what sort of assholes this and that guy is. Then of course you play that guy another day and he isn't an asshole at all, but of course that's because he is owning you hard or just because he is not THAT big an asshole.

This praising of the egos is of course from a spectators point of view, I personally find it very draining to be playing such people myself. But to be honest; if I want to see great players play good games I'll just watch demos of great q2 players, because you don't see great games on servers often, if seeing them at all. But the beauty of the duels I've mention previously, is the fact that the skillevel of the players involved is not as important, as long as they have decent skill, and are not a total mismatch skillwise. It's q2 at it's most primal form really, all cheap tricks are allowed, excuses fly all over and maybe some cheering from the spectators to heat things up. It's like some fighting scene from a cheap fighting movie where every dirty little trick is allowed and the crowd is involved as well. These days q2 servers are a place for families with children, which may be more fun to play on, but the games played there are really not as intresting as they were.

Of course some may frown upon it all, people who think q2 should be all friendly and fun, and that everyone should get along. And I agree, as a player I find it more fun to play with people I get along with and have played with forever just bashing it out. It's relaxing and not draining at all. But, as a spectator I don't really enjoy these average q2 game all that much, it's nothing you haven't seen before. It's just your average q2dm1 pickup game, nothing new to see.

And there are many players in the NA scene with strong opinions about themselves and others who are able to get into these sort of duels, but there are so few of them left these games are oh so rare, and do they ever end up on q2players?

Anyway, if you let your mouth run, at least try to back it up. It's much more entertaining than just disconnecting. And if you don't want to back it up, just keep your mouth shut and play with the rest of us instead

- BUSH_is_SATAN aka BUTTCHEESE aka whatever... (a 200+ HPB who is always trying hard to be extremely annoying with his 'political' bindspam and bs votes).
- crusty (...yuck).
They're just like mosquito buzzing. Buzz off! It's the endless and deliberate spamming that seems to annoy me the most. I would ban these two creeps in an instant if I had rcon. Perhaps not permanently but for a week orso until they finally get the message.
